...i have my progressive scan dvd player set to 16:9 wide screen, and my wide screen tv set to 16:9 also, yet it always displays my dvd's with black bars on top and bottom of the screen. my hdtv broadcasts in 16:9 fine. im sure im leaving something out, so just ask what else you need to know...
I have the Samsung you're lookin at. you 1st have to take into account that this is the only HD set i've ever owned and i've never used an SM, just Avia to tweak user settlings. Pros: Great picture, great features; like a 5 band EQ, sound and picture presets (only one custom preset for all...
Hi Richard, I was in the same boat about a week or two ago, finally I baught the Samsung TXN3O71WHF, 30" widescreen HDTV ready, flat screen, at sears for $949, and $79 towards a selection of dvd players, as far as quality i llllove it so far, (two days) im waiting for a more quiet day here...
On my Sony sub there are regular speaker inputs and outputs for left/right speakers, if i bought a second sub for the rears, and set them as large on the receiver, would i get full range from my rears for dvd-a/sacd?
The reason I ask, is because im thinking of buying a low end sony SACD DVD player that does'nt have BM, so until I can afford an ICBM, I'd like to here 5.1 titles. BTW my mains are n38s but the rears and center are nsp1s (ncenter and n24s) not exactly full range with out my sub. tyia Steve
I'd like to see some info on SACD/DVD-A in the primer. Also, a few sticky's for "best HTiB" and "best receivers under $500" I see these posted every day.
if the onkyo and the 220 have this odd muting problem it seems maybe your cd player is the problem even if it did'nt do it when you had the 125, does the muting problem happen every time you play a cd?
mine works like a charm:emoji_thumbsup:
maybe explaining step by step what your doing will help us,
but you'll probably get half way through the explanation and relize what you might not/be doing wrong :D
Hello, I'm shopping around for a new receiver, and would like your opinions on the denon 1803 and the hk 320, features seem close, and enough for me. What I'm worried about is tone, no one in my town seems to carry denon, I tested an hk 225 and loved the rich, robust sound, but it seemed to...
Hello, I need a little advice on some speaker options for an odd shaped room. The room is 20' deep and 10' wide. I want to put the display on the narrow wall which means the front speakers will be filling around 15' I'm thinking of jbl n38 mains and jbl nsp1, with a sony sa wm40 sub (very...
Thank you everyone for all the input! I read up on all the remotes suggested in this post, and really liked all of them, especially the mx 500, but the rca has one thing that i had to keep in consideration, and that is, the button placement is very similar to my other remotes, especially the...
Thanks, What if i only wanted 6.1, would i be able to do this? also, since im only using an ext. amp for the single rear center do i need a high quality amp? or could i just use a cheap, low watt amp? or do you have any suggestions? Thank you so much Steve
Hello, I'm considering an upgrade, from an onkyo sr600 to an H/K 320, but im confused about speaker outputs. the ad says its 7.1 but it only has outputs for 5.1. how exactly would i hook up 7.1? TYIA Steve
Hi,
I'm looking for some suggestions for an affordable learning universal remote.
Right now I'm using my onkyo sr600 remote, and it does the job but it is not very user friendly for the rest of the family, the tilting navigate key is agravating, and only has two macro keys.
I'm considering...
The AIW 8500dv is a great card, I've been using one for about six months for capture and outputing DivX to my receiver, it has digital coax, coupled with an audigy you would have optical output also.
Scan thru this forum for tons of info on the 8500dv.
If mp3s are the only thing you will be outputing from your PC, maybe you consider a DVD player that supports mp3 play back, 90% of the players out have it.
I've owned the sony htddw740 and 840 and they both sound great IMO. they have small 2.5" sats and a powered sub, auto input select which is nice for digital cable, DD, DTS, and like 10 DSP modes, the 840 has DPL II, 20 more watts per speaker, and 50 more watts on the sub. It was a snap to get it...
I agree with Alf, switching through your components seems much easier than using an a/v switch, especially if you can program macros into your remote (with macros, you can asign several key/button strokes to one button) i.e. you can program your tv, receiver, and cable box, (or any combination...
I agree with kyle, I switched from onkyo sr600 to a HK 225 and as far as sound quality I think that HK in both stereo and HT sounds much better (IMO). the bass and treble are in stereo is so nice. I have no experience with the other receivers so...
thanks everyone, I'm ordering the converts now, if it don't work i'll try running everything composite, except dvd.. that is also a good idea John, but, my tv has 3 inputs, 1 component, 1 composite/s-vid and of course RF. I'm probably lazy but I'd rather not have to switch between video and...
Hello, I recently traded my Onkyo TX SR600 for an H/K AVR 225. I have my digital CATV, and PC (in and out), to receiver with S-Vid, then receiver to TV (jvc 27s33) also with S-Vid, and DVD to TV via component input. This leaves my composite only VCR unusable, because if I read the...
Thanks Jack, So, going straight from the dvd player to the TV for video is better than using the receiver? and if so I just run the audio from the dvd player to the receiver? What I meant in the second part of question 2 is, if I use Avia to calibrate the display settings (Avia > dvd...
Hello,
I'm thinking of replacing my 12+ year old RCA 25" TV.
I've scanned threw the posts here, and after reading a few I have to admit I'm a bit embarrassed about posting where most of the topics are about $2000-$10,000+ display :b
I've only around $400 to spend (this will have to cover...
