Looking for a small, inexpensive hdtv

I'm looking for a smaller, inexpensive hdtv for my bedroom. I'd prefer it to be up to 27 inches in size (CRT or LCD, doesn't matter which), would prefer it to be widescreen (but not necessary), and anything up to $500 (I'm flexible on the price though). Any ideas?

    Sony 34xbr910 vs RCA HDLP50W151

I appreciate all of the replies. After I reading them, it seems like the general consensus would be to go with the XBR. I've always leaned towards CRT sets previously, because I've preferred the picture quality. And after seeing the XBR910, it blew me away. But the age old question always creeps...

    Sony 34xbr910 vs RCA HDLP50W151

I know it might not be the same type of technology to compare, but I wanted to get just a general overall comparison between the 2 sets. I have a chance at getting either of the 2 for the same price ($2500). As for my room setup, I would prefer a smaller physical set, because I am in an...

Question concerning H/K AVR 125 receiver

Before now, I never knew there was a setting for DD 5.1 in the settings. I knew there was something for DTS but not DD. But now, I know there are settings for both of them. After noticing that my DD setting was turned off, I flipped it on, and my receiver automatically switched over to the DD...

Question concerning H/K AVR 125 receiver

My question is about watching movies with DD 5.1 audio tracks on it. With a DTS track, the receiver automatically switches to the DTS setting (showing all channels are active), but with a 5.1 track (using the same Playstation 2 as the player), it doesn't switch at all. Am I truly listening to...

Quick question concerning Digital Coax connection

I think I figured it out. The person that hooked this system up added a few cables that weren't really needed. So I removed them, put the Digital coax cable from the cable box (for the channels that accept it), and connected the analog inputs from the cable box to the receiver. Now, I can get...

Quick question concerning Digital Coax connection

Well, for instance, say I want to listen to NBC using more than 2 speakers. I'm assuming that the channel (at least locally) is probably analog only. Is there a way to hook up the analog inputs so that I can use more than 2 speakers? Sorry for the very general questions. I'm a newbie here, and...

Quick question concerning Digital Coax connection

Basically what I'm trying to do is use a digital coax cable from my cable box to my receiver (Harmon/Kardon AVR 125 receiver). As of right now, I get no sound out of any speakers using that input, but can get sound through the analog connections (cable box to receiver, then the receiver to the...

Any preference in which to get (Avia or Video Essentials)?

Few questions about recently purchased H/K system

Just bought a Harmon Kardon AVR 125 receiver and HTK 5 speakers setup for $600 new @ Circuit City. Was it a good buy? Is it worth buying one of those calibration kits (Video Essentials or Avia) to calibrate this system or my Sony 27FV16 tv? If so, where could I buy it online (called several...

Deciding between 6 sets, need help

That Sharp is a pretty good looking set. The only problem is that I couldn't find that set in any of the local stores.

Newbie needs help choosing a home theater system

Tom, I looked at the set up that you suggested, and it seems to be pretty decent. Could someone tell me how much of a difference it would be if I were to get that set up and add the Sony SA-WM20 (over the SA-WM40)? I know there is a size difference between the 2, but just wondered how much it...

Newbie needs help choosing a home theater system

Well, not too sure. I didn't know how well you could tweak the overall sound with the receiver, so I thought it might be something that I would need. BTW, thanks for the replies guys. Keep them coming. I've been hearing good things about both of those set-ups. If you have any suggestions...

Newbie needs help choosing a home theater system

I forgot to mention that I'd like the receiver to include component video input on it, if possible.

Will I need an EQ, or will the receiver do the job?

Newbie needs help choosing a home theater system

I'm just out of college with not that big of a budget (roughly in the range of $500-800 if possible). I've got a 27 inch Sony Wega already (27FV16) w/ Component Inputs and dual S-Video inputs. I'll be using either my PS2 or Xbox as my DVD player. I mainly play Video games 60%, Movies 20%, & TV...
