    Cobalt Cable or Bettercables XLR?

Be carefull, Cobalt and BlueJeans balanced cables are 110 ohm, main use is AES/EBU, not analog. Wickedcables uses the Canare Starquad analog cable (5 conductor) with the same Neutrik connectors. They use a seperate cable suited for 110 ohm applications.

to banana or not to banana that is the ?

Solder should NOT be the point of contact. You may crimp bananas then solder to strengthen, in this manner the copper in the wire is making contact to the gold in the banana.

Horizontal reddish line, convergence doesn't seem to fix

Burned phosphors on one of the CRTs. This is usually caused by someone opening up the screen VRs too high while the picture in service (collapsed) mode. The adjustment procedure calls for turning these adjustmemts all the way down before collapsing the picture, then opening them up untill a...

    Monster or Canare Interconnects?

Ill stand by Marks statement that Canare and Belden 75ohm coax with the Canare 75ohm connectors are superb for video and SPDIF, but not analog. I do however like Canares analog coaxial (GS-6) with the Canare F-10 RCA connectors, which give a nice ring at the top and a round bottom. Jump in...

    convergence question

Daniel I think you could do a better job than a tech in hurry!!! Get the manual to your set, study it and take a few hours with no distractions. Unless you write to ROM you can always back off to the last convergence adjustment. "Within spec" would not be acceptable in my book!!! On...

Where can I find a phono plug adapter?

Records are cut with an EQ curve, basically highs are accentuated and lows are attenuated. Because its analog and the low frequencies can not be cut on a record due to its depth. If the amplifier does not have a phono in plug, you need a phono pre-amp to restore the equalisation to flat...

Where can I find a phono plug adapter?

Make sure the adapter has an RIAA EQ circuit. $60.00 for a phono preamp is not bad.

    Hitachi 57UWX20B Bad?

Let me just start off by saying that a manual convergence helps the set 200% My 57 was nice out of the box, but the convergence made it much better. Read posts by MFUSIK, he has a lot of information that would help you.

    Interconnect

He stated it also had a 1/4" TRS . When an amp has both XLR and 1/4" TRS they are wired in parallel. 1/4" TRS IS balanced the difference between XLR and 1/4" TRS is the connector. By using a 1/4" plug you are essentially shorting out the ring and sleeve. A properly built RCA unbalanced to...

    Hitachi Red Push

I think the greyscale is too hot. The grey bar on the color bars are almost whit and having trouble getting the blue saturation to match on the bars. Dont worry, Ill get around to geometry and convergence soon enough:D

With my "cant leave well enough" attitude, I tried a tweak from the AVS forum. I believe you were involved in the thread!!!! My original settings were exactly like this person's. I changed them to the same values, Im in the process of readjusting with Avia now. I can tell you that these...

Looking for high-quality, mid-priced, LONG component video cables.. What about these?

First my open apologies to BlueJeansCable, they came back with a vengeance!!!! Ive been doing cables on the web for almost three years, and have seen guys go when their reels ran out!!!! Chu Gai I cant see using 1694, when 1505 has less weight and is capable of tighter bends. Both 1505Aand...

Looking for high-quality, mid-priced, LONG component video cables.. What about these?

SMPTE standards: 259m (360mb/s) component widescreen 960 ft - 1180 ft 292m (1.5 gb/s) HDTV 300 ft - 370 ft The above referenc is for NON-compressed video editing and recording to and from a D5 recorder. Hence the SMPTE standard. This does not apply to NTSC (DVD and HDTV )...

Looking for high-quality, mid-priced, LONG component video cables.. What about these?

What spec difference? 0.100 difference in capacitance? They are both rated at 3Ghz bandwidth. HDTV is at most compressed to 30Mhz! The Canare plugs are rated 200Mhz which makes the cable size a moot point!! 1694A weighs more, and will damage your the RCA jacks on your DVD faster than 1505A...

    Acoustic Research Component cables?

Hi TechFlex, is nothing more than a cable bundling solution used in studio equipment racks. The intention was to be able to bundle cabling securely, and cut open easily to replace a damaged/defective cable in a crisis situation. They are now used as cosmetic covering. PLG
