Thanks for the advice. I got the Denon AVR-2807 & the SVS 20-39 PCi. The speakers I had before were HT in-a-box, with a 8" sub that was 100 watts. When I plugged in the SVS and put on the "Pod Race" from Phantom Menace, it nearly brought tears to my eyes.
Since I've been going back and forth between SVS and HSU, I had to get the wife involved for looks since the setup will be in the family room. She seems to like the look of the SVS cylinder and thinks it will fit better with what she has planned for the room. (I don't care either way) So...
Good point. Thanks for bringing it up. Under my upcoming setup, the speakers will not be plugged into the sub, however, for future options, (ie move to a new house and get a real media room), I can see the reason.
So I went up to HTD and I wasn't paying attention to the dimensions on the webpage as to how big the speakers were (they're not called bookshelf speakers for nothing). After talking for awhile, I decided to go with the HTD Panel Speakers. To save some cost on the sub, I'm leaning toward...
Finally moved into my first house and plan on putting a plasma on the wall. In preparation, I need to update the receiver since I just want a single HDMI cable going to the plasma. I would have a component DVD, s-video game console, and HD cable box plugged into the receiver. I have a Pioneer...
I was wondering if I'm going to have a problem with this setup in a new apartment. [5.1 Speakers] The front wall is approx. 14 1/2 ft. long. The back wall is approx. 17 1/2 ft. long. The room with the tv looks like this: |---------------------| | | | |...
I have a sub that came with the Cerwin-Vega AVS-632 home theater package.
While I'm waiting for the Avia DVD to arrive to calibrate my speakers, I was playing with the controls on the sub and noticed something weird.
There is a crossover bypass switch. OUT - if I want to control the crossover...
Thanks for the info.
The receiver has 3 options for crossover frequency:
100Hz, 150Hz, 200Hz
Which of course the manual recommends using 200Hz if you set the speakers to small.
Unfortunatly, the sub just has on on/off switch with auto-shutoff so I can't force it to stay on.
I am by all means a novice when it comes to home theater.
I moved from one apartment to another and finally decided to upgrade to a digital receiver and replace my speakers.
My current system includes a Pioneer VSX-D850S receiver with Cerwin-Vega AVS-632 home theater speakers. DVD, Hi-Fi...
