Wow. Well, I'm not going to lie and said I read the entire thread but I skimmed it, and I'm pretty surprised that a lot of the conversation has turned so quickly. Kind of a downer. I'm sure my two cents is worth nothing, but I just wanted to throw in how much I love this DVD! From the spiffy...
I'm actually going through one right now, either selling them on Amazon or sending them to DigitalEyes for store credit to fund more DVDs (the madness never ends!) depending on the better deal. Besides that I've become a lot better at picking out films that I want to keep and don't have to worry...
I've been spending my (early) birthday money on TV on DVD, I'm so addicted! Anyway, this past weekend I bought-
- Soap Season 2
- Star Trek: The Original Series Season One
- Dallas Season 1 & 2 (blind buy)
- Invader Zim Vol. 1- Doom, Doom, Doom
and my mom picked up Harsh Realm for the...
Wednesday I recieved I Love Lucy Season 2, The Munsters Season 1 (one of the top 3 shows I wanted on DVD, I'm in heaven!) and Laverne & Shirley Season 1 as early birthday presents. I'm gonna dig into them soon as I just finished Futurama Vol. 4 and am almost done with SCTV Season 1.
Also, early...
If my movie spectrum was teeny tiny, then I'm sure Star Wars would do it for me. But since I love all types of films snd I love seeing new ones I doubt there will ever be a time when I'm NOT looking forward to something. I mean, some of Rene Clair's best films aren't out, same with Truffaut...
I think this is where you see the divide between film lovers (and fans of tv shows) that have DVD collections because it's the best format right now. Then there's the people that just collect DVDs because it's the latest thing, or to show off one thing or another and will buy any and every DVD...
So the commentaries won't be on the next release? I guess I'll keep the current version in that case. Stupid Fox! They do so well on their classics but are so greedy and not the baby with new releases.
I'm with the people who like to rewatch the films I own, that's why I buy them! Though some I haven't really rewatched even though I like or love them. Those are From Hell, The Pianist, Amadeus Director's Cut and Apollo 13. My most rewatched DVDs are Singin' in the Rain, Evil Dead 2, Big...
Congrats on your find, Mulholland Drive is a great film. I would really suggest NOT seeing Fire Walk With Me until you've seen at least the first season, otherwise you'll be incredibly confused and miss out on all the character foibles. Actually a lot of under $12 DVDs are great, like Once...
Well I'm glad they're finally releasing it, I was confused and sad when the first release time fell through. Now, finally... there may be a little sunshine in my life.
That's pretty cool, the Shrek 4-D "ride" was pretty fun, I'm glad they're putting it on DVD for the people who can't get to it. Too bad they can't replicate the fairy into the speakers at the beginning, the spitting and chair moving though :)
Popular! Wooo! I've been wanting this on DVD like crazy! I love you so much for posting this news, yay. Just too bad that show ended on such a crazy cliffhanger...
A GREAT year for things I've been waiting for, hope 2004 is even better :emoji_thumbsup: Valley Girl The Haunting Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3- and with the commentary I wanted! (as panned as it is, this has been on my top three wishes for about 2 years) A special edition for...
Oh yeah, especially since I've recently gotten into Farscape and "had" to buy them on DVD. Here's a list of my favorite shows I'm currently collecting. Andromeda Season 1- blind buy, will be renting the rest afterwards CSI Season 1 & 2 I love this show, and it's one of the few (CSI, Angel...
I'm with you, when I got my factory sealed "Mr. Bean: The Complete Bean" the second disc seriously looked like someone played street hockey with it. Needless to say, it pixelated and wouldn't play a few minutes in. When I recently rented "28 Days Later" from Netflix, I got it right after it was...
I was so looking forward to Nemo that I had no idea SwC was coming out Tuesday- thanks! Now I'm extra super excited for Tuesday, since Tenacious D, High Sierra, To Have and To Have Not and Ox-Bow Incident is also coming out... I wish all DVDs were $5 : I pre-ordered the Tenacious D for 5.99...
I've been trying to watch at least 1 horror movie everyday this week, but on Halloween I'm planning The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror and Halloween (surprise!). I'd watch more but I'm doing the "special Halloween night makeup" at a haunted house again this year.
Well I've cut down on buying all around, including used. I'm renting right now and while I'm a bit impatient waiting for the movies in the mail, it's great at saving me money and getting films I probably wouldn't see otherwise. I'm selling a lot of my movies I never watch on Ebay as well...
This thread is making the wait for my pre-order (ha!) from Columbia House seem so much longer! :) I love this show, sadly can only afford the first set at the moment but will definitely be renting the second. It's too bad the Mary Tyler Moore Show releases could have this kind of release...
Thanks for the great review, I would have bought this even if it was barebones but it being packed makes it all the better. I especially liked the review of all the featurettes, very helpful. :emoji_thumbsup: I love the Charlie's Angels movies, I don't really understand all the criticism...
Wow, I had no idea there would be such staunch anti-used people here! I guess they don't get to experience the joy of thrift or vintage clothes shopping or used bookshops either. That's too bad. I have bought a many number of my discs used, because I love a good deal. Where I buy them I get a...
I would start with The Elephant Man, and then move on to Blue Velvet. Mulholland Drive is a great film but I really don't think it should be the first one you see. I would also recommend you check out the awesome Twin Peaks series, the first season DVD set is incredible.
