    DVD pause

why is it that every movie I watch, about 1/2 way through or so, there is a "blip" in the movie or a brief pause. last movie I saw was from netflix - the bourne identity - and at this quick pause, the movie actually stopped and would not play past it thanks brian

    Laying bookshelf's on their side?

sounds like with the speaker crafts in the rear you are not going for timbe matching. this may be a mistake you will regret or may not. I had to put my preakers in a cabinet as well and at first was dissapointed. they are paradigm mini monitors. after a email to paradigm and working with foam...

    Paradigm monitor question

I really like the minis I have for mains with the cc370. I have adp 170's on hte sideas with titans to the rear. great set up. people dont like the 3's cause of the 8" driver I believe. perhaps the front port hinders it as well. expect to pay no more then 5-10% below retail at most and be happy...

    speakers in a cabinet?

to meet the WAF, I had to buy an enclosue for my HT stuff. the "theater wall unit" is made by hooker. It houses in a very pretty cherry cabinet set up my hit 65swx20b, denon 3803, rp82, paradigm cc370 and where the prblem lays - the mini monitors. the minis are each in a part of the cabinet...

    pointing the SPL??

using the radio shack digital spl, I get different levels if I opoint the meter tip at the speaker with pink noise or if I just point it strait ahead at the TV and leave it there instead of rotating the direction based on which source is emminating the pink. this will surely affect the levels...

    speaker sheilding and crt tv

next to my 65swx20b sits a 27" cheapie. this is for watching 2 games at once. problem is my mini monitor that is next to the 27" causes interference with the 27"er. is there a way to sheild the magnet from the tv that does not effect the quality of the mini monitor? thanks Brian

    optical or digital coaxial audio?

excellent replies. the reason I was wondering was because the 72 does not have coax out. sounds like I should get a dvd player with coax so I can experiment if I like. now for the next question, which player, the tosh 4800 or panny rp82 :) thanks Brian

    optical or digital coaxial audio?

Need help with JBL set up

thanks for all the info Mark, that was very helpful. the room has vaulted ceilings so perhaps the 38s would be great with 2 pair of 36s for the surrounds. are round rubber feet included and what type of screws did you use. I would like to have this info handy for my installers. thanks Brian

Need help with JBL set up

I plan on the JBL studio series and the Denon 3802 for a potential 7.1 set up. the room is 22' wide and 18' deep. For the sides and rears, spkr wire on the sides is 5 ft from the back of the room(adjacent to listener) and 7 ft high. the rear wires are 4 ft in from the side walls and 6 ft high...

    Circuit City - Mighty Sheild

thanks for the f/u. I wonder if the redux in viewing angle is dramatic? also, if anyone has seen this screen, how does it do comparerd to some other mechanism of putting a protective screen up and having it be anti glare(hx81, diamond, ect.) vs a sheet from home depot vs the CC option. thanks Brian

    Circuit City - Mighty Sheild

here in Va, CC uses a company by that name to provide an anti-glare sheild for any RPTV you buy from them at a cost of $229. do all CC offer this and has anyone seen it or have it. what are some opinions on it? I'm contemplating the Hit65swx20B(at CC) or a hdx82(pos mits plat or pioneer643 as...

Help me decide on what JBL speakers to buy

Anyone heard the S38's up front with an S center. My guess is this would be the clear winner in the Studio line up but i havent heard them. Would they not beat the S 26's up front. BTW, S series is clearly better then N series as far as I can tell from my limited exposure. What if one used the...

    JBL N28 or S26

I'm thinking S 38's with an S center up front and S 36's to the rear. N26's would be easier to mount in the rear then S26's so my first question is would the N26's make that big a difference for HT compared to S26's Also, would S38's be much better up front as compared to S26's up front...

    HD thanks to a PC?

say this quote on here today: "There are a few PC cards that let you tune in OTA signals also. You can watch them on the monitor or the TV and you can record them. The disadvantage is that you have to keep the PC near the TV." I am planning on putting a new pc next to new rptv. what is the...
