Actually the reason the new pani reciever isn't due out till august is because they are waiting on HDMI's next revision which will allow the uncompressed DVD-a transfer. I lost the link I had, but that is what panny is telling the press.
No this is supposed to mean that the DVD-S97 will feed an uncompressed 6 ch DVD-Audio signal thru the HDMI to Pani's new reciever. This is a big deal as the new reciever has the Ti digital amps, meaning for the first time you could listen to uncompresed (not the DTS or 5.1 track)DVD-A that is...
The H/K line offers no Auto-sensing of a dig input (switch from analog to dig if dig present) These speakers are the Infinity Studio Monitors (10" in front 8" in back), the H/K 120 drives them fine, I tried a Pioneer 912 and it would go into overload.
In the past it was always easy buy an H/K, but these just don't have the features you need anymore. I am kind of at a loss this year. I tried the Pioneer 912 but it didn't have the power I needed. I am upgrading from an H/K 120 which has the power but not the features I need like: 1...
Picked up a Pio VSX-D912K after a lot of research. I own a first gen Pioneer surround reciever (no pro logic, no center, no sub out, just great dolby sound) so I guess I had high hopes buying a top of this line 2003 reciever (not counting the Elite line.) I was not impressed, in the least...
After buying my first DVD-A disk (Zeppelin HTWWW) I started researching the hi-rez formats. It is really a mess, what I have learned is that there is no way to integrate a sub with multi channel HI-Rez without degrading the sound for under $3000(firewire setups). There are ways to integrate a...
I am looking for a HT reciever with a 6th channel that can be set to use to drive a passive sub. Only thing I can find has been the VR-7080 from kenwood. Are there any others like the Kenwwod ?
I am posting this question in this forum because it seems to have the most people with experience with the unique Pioneer 563. The thing that know on seems to grasp is the funky bass management. With a 200hz crossover for the sub on DVD-A, I am trying to design a system which would sound right...
Looking at upgrading older sound system, done enough research to see that the big problem with SACD and DVD-A is the analog connection to the amp (or receiver) especially if you have a subwoofer. You're options are: a)find a universal player which can handle the bass management b)find a...
Wow, great advice, it is appreciated.
the composite video sources would: Dreamcast, laptop, and a vcr. I found the cheap RCA to S-video plugs in my parts express catalog. Would the quality with the plug be as good as the RCA alone?
I have just noticed that some of the newer recievers...
I'm in the market for a new reciever. I have some video components that use RCA (composite) and some use S-video.
I want to run one S-video cord to my TV and no RCA. Is there a reciever that can intake a RCA and output it thru the S-video.
Also a lot of the recievers a see say that in in...
I am in the market for a new reciever. I am replacing a very old Pioneer VSX-4400. This was like the first Home Theater reciever made, dolby surround no center channel. Anyway it has performed well for me, I am happy with the output (says 400watts on back.) It will remain in my system to...
Long story but I have 2 passive subs ( a 10" vented and a 12" inch sealed) any thoughts on putting one behind the TV and one at the back of the room? It actually sounds pretty good but wondering if there is something inherently wrong with this?
I'm building a real hodge-podge system. I tried it tonight and it seems to work. The DVD has the 6 outputs and has the Dts symbol on it. I am buying a reciever with prologic and dolby but no Dts for $140 (harman kardon). I am using my old stereo reciever to power two passive subs from the...
I have a DVD with Dts and 6 rca outputs for sound. If I buy a reciever without Dts but with 6 channel input will my sound have the Dts? I want to get off cheap on this reciever and can find a good deal on one without Dts.
No that isn't what I am looking for. I just would like to know what network is used on a center channel? How do you hook up 2 woofers with only one midrange and tweeter?
Hello, I am new hear. Been heavily into Car Audio DIY for years and want to get into HT. I have a few high quality drivers that I got for the car but turned out to be cellulose so I want to use them for HT. Also want to build a center channel. Can anyone point me to a crossover network for...
I have had an old pioneer reciever for several years (VSX4400) this thing has done well for me but it is just surround (no center or sub.) I have a good 4 ohm passive sub, a pair of nice infinity speakers (8" 8 ohm) and a pair of focal (6.5" 4 ohm.) I have been looking for over three years...
I have a pair of Focal 6.5" woofers and tweeters. I plan on making 2 surround speakers with these (rear.) My delima is that these are 4 ohm speakers. I haven't purchased a reciever yet because non I have seen show 4 ohm capability. Is this a given or do I need a special reciever. I am a H/K...
