Brian, thanks for the clarification, everything you said helps to clear up my confusion. This HT is so new (3 weeks) and sounds so incredibly good that I am going to relax for about a month or so with my current setting. After that I hope to have a better sense for my system and should...
I may try your suggestion, at least I will be able to determine the size I need and then assess if I am happy with my workmanship and the metal strength.
Brian, You are correct about the 2002TL. The 2000TL is the next size up. With your hookup, did you set your speaker configuration on the the Denon with small speakers and a sub. If you do, does this allow you to control the sub volume from the receiver and what crossover level do you use...
The calibration I made with the compression on was my second calibration in a week (somehow I defaulted my setting back to zero) and I did not write my first setting down on paper. Otherwise I could tell if it made a difference. This time I wrote my calibration setting down and I will compare...
Either would work, with a longer thread I can just thread less into the speaker. I found some different size spikes at Madisound and will need to measure my current spikes tonight to see what size I need. It appears the largest size 2 1/8 inch may require a little drilling for 1/2 inch hole...
Yes, I hear low frequency with the AVIA sound tones. I currently have my intensity knob at about 25% and when I run one of the final sound tests where AVIA sends out pink noise at 200 HZ and gradually reduces it to 21 HZ I don't lose any sound or rumbling feeling to just under 24 HZ. I need to...
Harold, that is great information to know. I just happened to find that feature on my receiver this weekend while watching Toy Story 2 with my wife.
What happens if you have it on, forget about it and then calibrate with AVIA like I did. I assume I need to recalibrate, and will, as soon as...
Does anybody know where to purchase spikes (Tip Toes?) that are longer then the standard speaker spikes provided by Definitive Technology and everybody else.
I have tried everything to make their spikes stick and it is just not going to happen. Their customer service and my retailer are not...
I am new to this stuff and you confuse me when you tell me to set the LFE/subwoofer level to the lowest setting. I cannot find a setting on my receiver to do this. I am thinking I don't see the setting because I am not running a cable to the LFE port and have the speakers set to large.
I...
I am hoping that someone out their familiar with Def Tech speakers can give me some advice.
Before I get into my questions, I just want to say I am very happy with the speakers and love this new world of HT. I am renting all kinds of previously viewed action adventure movies just for the...
Thanks for the reply,
It appears based on poplar opinion and features (assuming you don't want web stuff on your tv) Tivo is the way to go. However, Ultimate TV receivers seem to be cheaper with rebates. I think I will go the Tivo way.

Can anyone tell me if there is a satellite receiver (preferably Sony) that offers picture in picture (record 2 programs or watch one live program while recording another) and dolby digital 5.1
I was told Tivo offers the dual recording but, I think there is confusion and really what Tivo can...
Alex: My Music/HT ratio will be about 80%HT or more. Of course all that can change once I have a nice system to play.
Ted: You are correct, the Def Techs include powered subs and after reviewing the links provided by Dustin regarding powered subs vs Sub/sat I can only hope I avoid stirring...
Hi Everyone,
I am a HT newbie and this is my first posting. After reading forums for 2 weeks I spent this last weekend looking for my first system. On Saturday I started with 2 budgets in mind ($2,000 or $4,000). By Sunday I was at $4,000 and not looking back since sales tax and connections...
