Wayne.... Why have an idle channel when Listening to 2-ch music. If you listen to 2ch music, then, IMHO, I'd put the best amp up front for the L&R channels. Having your best amp for the surr's is a waste as I see it. To each his/her own!!

Use the 2-ch amp for your main L & R spks, and the 3-ch amp for the centre and the rears.

Vicky... Keep doing your homework. When I listen to a certain spk, I listen to the whole line. I start with it's best on down the line. Try it!! So many things to get it right. I have always prefered full range tower spk even when most folks were using small type rears. Good luck!!

Check out the AudioSource SW-15 ($200) and fill it with polyfill. It will blow the Sony back to Sears.

With Velodyne subs, the volume level should be between 8 and 10 o'clock o the dial. Call Velodyne again and ask for David Santos (head man in charge) in customer service, he'll get you going in the right direction.

I use NHT-VT2's (front/rear) with Super Two towers for my sides in Lexicon's L7 set up. L7 states 120hz (centre), full range (40hz) for rears/sides. Any opinions? Velodyne HGS-18 is X-over at the pre-pro (40hz).

WOW!! And we haven't even gotten to 7.1. With proper set up, add two more spks (side), and your rear soundfied can be just as good as your front. Power/balance all around is the key!! "If you live in the past, how can you advance into the future?" You can't!!

Chris... I use a Lexicon Digital Controller. The multi channel music modes that I listen to are Music Surr, Music Logic, Logic 7, and Panorama. Each one of these wonderful music modes adds a very nice surr presense to the music. With I listen to singing groups, Music surr is my choice. Music...

Something is wrong if you had to increase 7-8 db's higher. Check everything.

Dave... My room (11 1/2 by 27) is a little larger than yours. I had an FSR-15 (although is was great), but once I moved up to the HGS-18, I finally heard what serious sub-woofing was all about. From one of the HT mags: "You might not be ready for all the FSR-18 has to offer."

Paul... I run the SONY STR-555ES in my bedroom with all spks set as large (centre-rears 50hz/mains-30hz). I tried the "Jurassic Park" (DVD & LD) scene at THX levels without any (sound) problems at all. Good luck!!

From one of the HT mags a few years ago. "You may not be ready for all the FSR-18 (Velodyne) has to offer." I use an HGS-18/VA-1012II. Powerful, clean, dynamic, and plays very low.

Lexicon has a feature for 5 spks being enhanced into a 7 spk sound. I don't know if H/K has the same format.

I bi-amp my NHT VT-2's (front/rear) with 225 watts to the highs/mids, and 250 watts to the lows. The sound production that I got from this set up is my mids are more vocal (more presense), and my bass is not boomy.
