Just playing the other side, but COO labeling is hard to pin down. Example, beef in this country comes primarly from within the US, but it is also imported from Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay, Australia, etc... A COO label will be on the box in the back of the store, but will the butchers get...
Welcome to the lower cost, cheaper to produce, just trying to make a buck, Walmart America. American buyers need to look in the mirror, and until the majority of american buyers start putting their money where there mouth is, it's only going to get worse. More oversight? We wouldn't be at...
Like others have said, its the loss of moisture in the meat that causes the price to be so high. I have a local company that's the best as far as I'm concerend,Cattaneo Bros. You can even order online, this is for their traditional jerkey I'd also recommnend their Portuguese Linguica...
One of the big draws for me with In-n-Out is there commitment to freshness and quality. Everyone knows that the cut their own potatoes on site with nothing else but potatoes and hot oil. What most people don't know is that they grind their own beef (not on site, but in a central location) to...
Lompoc has really gone down hill since the gov. had really cut back activity at Vandenberg after the Challenger mishap in the 80's. Coupled with the fed. pen just up the road and a very low avg. income, and well you can draw your own conclusion... If you can manage to stay clear of the beach...
!!?? Lompoc! Around here we referr to it as Lompton. I'm in Santa Maria (20 min S. of SLO, and 20 min N. of Lompoc) and it sound to me that Arroyo Grande/SLO area might be the place to be if you can manage it. Santa Maria is cheaper COL than thoses, but it is an Ag area, so there's LOTS of...
Like others have said, the Aquarium is a must see, in fact I just took the family to Monterey/Santa Cruz for the weekend just last week. If you can make the drive a bit south, Hwy 1 has some stunning vistas (if you get lucky and don't have fog) here's a couple of pics from out trip, pic 1,the...
Here's my take on this, I'm in CA so keep that in mind :) Our drivers are required to keep a clean driving record. So it's in their best interest to keep it that way. A responsible person will know when it's time to pull over and rest. We let anybody over 16 drive a car, or a 20,000 lb...
belive it or not, this will also benifit the drivers to some degree. It's frustrating to be 2hrs from home, and because you've been in a traffic jam, held up loading/unloading, something broke on the truck, if you hit the current 14hr limit, then that's it. You need to pull over and rest for...
but it's not 12-16 hrs driving, it's 16hrs on duty it'll still only be 11hrs of actual driving time. One thing that I'd like to point out, these are professional drivers, not just some shmo off the street. No one is forcing them to drive, they could go out an find a different job that works...
Come on, I know plenty of people that work 12 hr days, and then still get in their car for a 2 hour commute, so that makes someone "on-duty" for 16 hrs. Do you see any problem with that?
OMG, did you even read the regulations that I posted???? Directly quoted from the DOT: Property-Carrying CMV drivers may not drive: * More than 11 hours, following 10 hours off-duty. * Beyond the 14th hour after coming on-duty, following 10 hours off-duty. * After 60/70 hours on-duty...
rant follows: This hits close to home for me. A MAJOR part of our business is dependant on trucking logistics, and this is just a pet peeve, but you guys have NO idea what it actually going on behind this legislation. Please read the folloing from the D.O.T...
The factory has done a very good job of matching all the components, and programing the cpu, but there is still room for improvement if you don't mind some compromises.(mostly drivability, some reliability) The engine is just an air pump. Allowing more air to get in and out will force the...
your assuming everyone knows HOW to do these things ;) Do you know where to find a single turbo exhaust header for a v6? One that will fit in the engine bay? No, now your talking about two turbos, etc. etc.... I'm not saying it can't be done, just being realistic. It really is easy to go FI...
I bet your gonna spend a bunch more then 2k for a V6 turbo kit, does anybody really play with v6's in the import crowd? I mostly see 4's, those are easy to turbo, but a v6 will take more creative tinkering with the headers for a single turbo, a twin turbo is the hot ticket, but $$$$$ don't...
I never said it was going to be cheap, and I don't work on toy's :), but you should easily be able to get 20hp, and you'll be setting yourself up for upgrades later on that will need the better intake and exhaust. 20hp on a 225hp engine is almost 10%, that's not bad if you ask me.
Sorry to hear about your son Chris, we had a similar (from the doctor fiasco point of view) with our 2 year old daughter(at the time) she was having issues with one of here knees at the time and the had to remove fluid from it. We had to hold her down while she was trying to kick and scream...
This would be my third upgrade, usually cars from the factory are tuned VERY conservative (unless you get a real sports car, thats a different story) Factory cars need to satisfy a very wide range of people, and they don't like having to keep a highly tuned engine at it's optimum for the life of...
Just my .02 here, but my family has had no problems with the Dodge/Chryslers/Jeeps that we have owned. I have a 01 Dakota with almost 100K on it, no major work needed, my sister had a jeep grand cherokee, my mom also had a cherokee, and my dad has been through 3 Dodge rams, towing a 18,000lb...
On the poultry side of things, 32* is the freezing point of water, but poultry is allowed by the USDA to be kept at 26*, so thats why you see some partialy frozen poultry in the stores. check out this link, I can't post links yet, so goto google and put in freshlabel.htm and hit the second...
well I guess it's a regional thing, cause I call a BBQ as cooking some kind of meat with WOOD, either by direct or indirect heat. Grilling is what McDonalds does with their patties, or a cooking a piece of meat in a pan on the stove.
I guess I could throw out some of the local places around here also :) My fav, 1. F. McLintocks steak house in shell beach. If you like steak in a nice place, this is it. 2. Jockos, just a hole in the wall where all the locals hang out 3. The Hitching Post, in Casmelia?sp, made famous...
