    HELP my RPTV died?

Bob, I just found out my warranty ends in 9 days. Just gave the company a call and mentioned my problem. I have to call back when at home for a tech to try and tell me some things to try over the phone before they will send out a tech. I have little faith that is was a one-time fluke, so I...

    HELP my RPTV died?

Sorry Bob, 5 year old Mitsu VS4543, 45" RPTV. Screen was back and working this morning, but I im no way confident that "all is fine". I was left plugged in all night too. Any ideas as to what could cause this?

    HELP my RPTV died?

In the middle of Spongebob, the video signal went out. I thought it was part of the show and I was waiting for Spongebob to open his eyes, but nothing. Sound is working perfectly. It went out of extended warranty two months ago. What is this going to cost me???

    Outside Cable junction box

I agree with Rob. My cable comes right into my basement utility closet, and I can snip, spilt or do whatever I want to it. Same goes for my phone.

Any pics of "stylish" grills for my IB?

I had used white grill cloth to match my ceiling. It goes over a rectangular port. I will have to try masonite or something for a very thin grill.

Any pics of "stylish" grills for my IB?

I just used grill cloth on 1/2 pine painted white, and rounded over on the edges, and it sticks out too much and is not very appealing. How thin can it be made, and got any pics?

Sony HT in Box "Protect" Mode

My friend came over the other day and was telling me he was having problems with his Sony HT in a box, where if he turns the volume up, it shows "Protect" mode and gets no sound. I don't own any Sony receivers, and am too far away to stop over. Anyone have any ideas, because he is ready to...

How can I improve my speaker placement?

Rears are pointing right at me, but I know the front position is sub-par (height is fine). The equipment has to be on that wall too.

    Cheap ~50ft sub cable

Why not use RS RG6 quad shield coax and some connectors. That is what I did and it works fine. I had a roll of the cable, so it cost me about $5 in connectors.

How can I improve my speaker placement?

Here is a link to the IB forum, with the top photos of my setup. Got any ideas how I could improve things? Space is so tight. Thanks.

Hooke up my new IB in my attic

I wired it to just one voice coil, and am therefore running it at 8ohm. I think it is ample, but for the simplicity of adding another driver, I just have to. I was expecting things to shake, and the crap in the attic to be dancing around, but it is nothing like that. I have the baffle right...

Hooke up my new IB in my attic

What can I say. I have not even played with any levels, and it just is far superior than my old sub. It just give a nice, fuller sound, even at low volumes. I could not be happier with it, and my wife has no complaints because it is hidden. Just have to order another driver and take some...

Hook up both coils for my IB?

I am confused on one thing regarding RDO. If I cannot pick up the POT that I need, should I just short the second coil, or leave it open? I understand that with a POT, I can nearly double the Qts, to get what I want, but will running just one coil and leaving the other open, be way...

Refurbished DeWalt 621 routers for $150 again at Amazon

You should take a look at the Ryobi 1 3/4hp plunge router. I picked one up at Home Depot for $99 since my fixed base router needs repair and I did not want to wait or pay $75 just for them to look at it. I was going to get the Porter Cable 2hp plunge for $200 but they were out of stock. I...

My first Sonotube sub is up and running

Nice job Ron! I finished building my IB box yesterday and just have to build an amp box and mount it all up. I, too, use a Y-cable to the amp, just cause I had the cable. At least I know where it is when I need it. If you don't mind me asking, what did you use to cover the allthread on...

    Ideas on mounting my IB

I finished building the manifold and am ready (when a minute is free) to mount the manifold in my attic. It is a 15" x 15" x 8" box, with a smaller vent extending down from the box and through the drywall (about the size of a heating register). For visual purposes in the main room, I have to...

    Does this circle jig exist?

Jigsaw blades always flex when I use them. If you already have a router and plan on using the Jasper jig in the future, I would highly recommend it. I just got mine and cut my driver hole with ease. Not to mention, you would have some nice cutout circles which would make great party favors.

Hook up both coils for my IB?

It is more a disease that I, as many do, suffer from. Will do on the pics, and this will be more incentive to make things tidy.

Hook up both coils for my IB?

Rick, Will check into it. Thanks for the responses. I still have to get a book and spend some time learning. *** EDIT *** Just read the Adire site about wiring the DVC. It seems like the "right" thing to do would be to figure out the RDO math and what end result I want, and get a...

Hook up both coils for my IB?

I am in the middle of my IB install in my attic. I have one Dayton DVC 12" (so far) and a PE 250w amp. I have read that when running two drivers, only one voice coil for each should be used, and wired in parallel. What do you do when you have only one driver? I assume I want to it at 4ohm...

    Would this sub idea work?

I am in the midst of building my IB box. I decided on a box big enough for only two woofers. The Jasper circle jig is worth it's weight in gold. Just got to play with it for a few seconds. Got a $99 Ryobi plunge router since I have not gotten my PC fixed yet. Pretty darn nice for the price...

    Would this sub idea work?

Brian, I mostly concerned that my wife would be laying in bed and could hear bass above the bed. I guess I won't know until I try it. I was more concerned of an IB popping nails because of it actually touching the drywall in the ceiling, but I guess it really does not have to. In terms...

    Would this sub idea work?

Last question before I build... I am concerned with two things. Will the sound from the IB resonate throughout the other rooms below the attic? I cannot have that with a newborn. Will the drywall on the ceiling suffer from vibration enough to pop the nails out? Is it possible to isolate the...

    Would this sub idea work?

With this kind of setup, what kind of things in my house would be sharking and vibrating that might not with a box? I like the idea and my build both a box and the IB to see what the difference is. Problem is, I just got served with jury duty in the middle of my two week vacation

    Would this sub idea work?

Dustin, I had actually looked at that link earlier this morning and that is what interested me, although I had thought about it before. I think the driver I bought has a Vas of 4.25, so the volume of my attic space is easily 10x that. I understand the concept of separating the front and...

    Would this sub idea work?

Brian, The problem, if it is one, is that I only have one woofer and an attic that spans the length of the house. About 35' long, about 4' high in the center and sloping down to the soffits. It is a low-pitch roof. I thought there had to be some correlation between the size of the woofer...

    Would this sub idea work?

I just received my Dayton DVC 12" sub and PE 250w amp. I have plans to build a small sub due to size constraints, and was thinking about a 1.2 cu ft sealed. I really like the idea of IB in my attic, but don't have the money or need for something so earthshaking. I would also prefer a larger...

    PE 12" DVC Sub Sale

I just received mine yesterday, and they were kind enough to give me a credit for the price difference. I was almost going to order another one, but just don't have the room for a double. On a side note, after a long drawn-out labor, I have another healthy daughter;) . Baby comes home...

Suggestions for my first sub, different than Ron-P's.

Jack, I apologize for beating a dead horse, but I think if I am building this, I want it tuned as low as possible and I don't think I can get that out of a sealed box. If I were to do a vented 1.2 cu ft box, what would my vent dimensions be, and would that tune it lower? Or am I just a newbie...
