How much breathing room does a PB2-Plus need? (how close to wall?)

I asked Tom V. before placing it this way. Here is my question to him and his response..... Sent: Saturday, July 26, 2003 4:47 PM To: [email protected] Subject: PB2+ placement Hello Tom, I am waiting patiently for my PB2+. Ordered on 7/2/03. Is it possible to position the PB2+...

How much breathing room does a PB2-Plus need? (how close to wall?)

When I first got mine, I left it with the ports facing out. That way I could adjust filter settings and install/remove port plugs a lot easier. I was going to turn it around after I got it set up, but to be honest I kinda like the looks of those mean looking ports. Plus, it sounds so good like...

Bose 901's for front speakers in HT

My friend bought these in 1988. At first he just put them on top of his end tables in his living room. They sounded like *^*&&#$^ there and he was very disappointed. Just before returning them, we placed them on top of 6' stepladders following the Bose manual regarding placement from each...

Bose 901's for front speakers in HT

Receiver does have 5.1 analog inputs. Sounds like that would work if the dvd player has 5.1 analog outputs. I know all of the latest multi-players have this for dvd-audio. What then, just configure the dvd player to decode the dd or dts signal and send it to the receiver via the 5.1 analog...

Bose 901's for front speakers in HT

A friend of mine wants to use his old 901's as the front speakers in his HT. How can he do this with his A/V receiver (Sony str-da777es)? The 901's has to use the equalizer that comes with them or they sound really bad. You don't want to run all 5 speakers through the equalizer so using...

    PB2 + and Port Blocking

How "hot" is everyone running theirs? I know the owners manual says 2 or 3 db above the other channels. Just wondering if anyone is running more than that. I have mine set at 7 or 8 db hot, but I don't listen at ref. level like that. I measured a peak last night at my listening postion around...

SVS PB2-Plus Test and Review - Long

With music, one word comes to mind "effortless". Bass seems to just be there with no boom at all. Blends with the mains seamlessly. Very nice indeed! With movies, when called on to output something very low a couple of words come to mind, "HOLY S**T". I could feel the hairs on my legs move as...

SVS PB2-Plus Test and Review - Long

OK guys .... its here ..... and damn its BIG. Makes my studio 100's look small, but once in the corner next to the right speaker, it looks like it belongs there. One tip for moving it on thick carpet (by yourself), cut a piece of cardboard 17" x 27" and place it under the sub. It slides much...

SVS PB2-Plus Test and Review - Long

Hey Ron, I think I know what caused the power outage yesterday. Your guys were testing my PB+ before shipment and calibrated it a little too hot, causing the cascade effect all the way from Ohio to Canada right? ;) Be a little more careful next time. :D

    20 amp circut???????

Watts divided by volts = amps. So if you had an amp that was 200 x 5 (1000 watt) divided by 115 volts thats 8.7 amps max. You could plug 2 of these in the typical 20 amp circuit and have room to spare.

Paradigm Reference V2 Vs. V3 - Has anyone done a direct comparison?

I've had my v3's for about a month now. 100's, cc470 & 40's in the rear. While I never got the chance to compare the v2's side by side against the v3's, I can say that both are good ... very good. V3's right out of the box were very smooth and detailed sounding and they just seem to be...

Anyone use the TAN-9000es amp like this?

    I have a Sony a/v receiver STR-DA777es (120 x 5). All 5 of my HT speakers are bi-amp capable (paradigm studio 100 v3 front - cc470 v3 center - studio 40 v3 rears). Could I purchase the TAN-9000es amp (5 x 115) and use it to power the woofers while I use the 777es to power the upper end...

Got the new studio v3's – why can’t I tell any difference between receiver & amp?

Posted this in the speaker section. Probably belongs here. OK, first off I have only had them for a week, so they are not "broken in" yet but still sound very good. 100's in the front, 40's in the rear & just picked up the cc470 center yesterday. My Paradigm dealer loaned me a v2 center and a...

    Speaker lead changeover help...??

Dayton Audio makes some good binding posts for this very purpose. Check them out here. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...ID=14966&DID=7 I have been thinking about doing the same thing for my old BIC Formula 6 speakers (purchased in 1976).

    JBL L-100 speakers

Hey, this is a question for anybody who remembers the L-100. Remember that 12" woofer with the rubber coated cloth accordion surround? Those speakers not only sounded great but with that type of surround they were almost "bullet proof". I'm sure there are some being used in HT & music systems...

    Speaker cable length

I have my equipment rack right next to the left speaker and I suspect I am getting some reflection from the face of it. Wish I could move it over, but 2 speakers, a sub and a RPTV takes up all the room on my wall. Thanks for the info.

    dts vs dd LFE mix

I have a Sony 777es receiver. I have noticed that when using dts a source, I have to set the dts LFE mix higher than the dd to get the same bass output from my sub. The 777es manual states that a 10db increase for dts is necessary to equal dd. Does anyone have any idea why this is?

    Speaker placement

I am using large bookshelf speakers for my front mains. I have one sub now and was thinking about buying another. I was also thinking about placing the mains on top of the subs (one in each corner). Would the vibration from the subs cause a problem with the mains? Does anyone have a setup...

    Speaker cable length

I have 12 ga. monster cable going to my front main speakers. The left cable is approx. 7 ft. long and the right is 13 ft. I have noticed that when listening to 2 channel music the soundstage seems to be shifted to the left somewhat. I didn't think that cable lengths made that much difference...
