First thing that comes to mind is the printer driver. Check for the correct printer and newest version. Also, make sure the driver installed is for W98.

The Zoltrix Nightingale Pro audio card is a good candidate for HTPC. I believe it cost's around $50.00.

It is possible that it died a young and tragic death.... I assume you have tried multiple disks and ones that you are certain have been formatted. You might look at the CMOS settings for the floppy drive. One of my systems lost the settings for the drive and had the same issues. Good luck
