Wow, It appears I'm not alone! To those who started with HTIB and upgraded to something better, Congrats!! That being said, wouldn't it be better to say take the 200-1000 dollars you would spend on a HTIB and sink it into a decent receiver and a pair of speakers? A kickin' two-channel...
Now I'm not trying to sound eliteist or along those lines, but I'm getting sick of people asking my help when shopping for a " Home Theater ". I'm flattered that they would value my opinion that much. But you know your in trouble when a) They don't know a budget b) They found a cool system...
I've been toying around with this idea for a while now and I'm looking for a budget powered speaker system for my home studio. I've thought about building the speakers but that is pretty expensive to get the decent drivers, so what if I got a power amp module from Marchand and modded it to...
DIVX was a lame idea... They need not to put composite or hell even S-Video jacks on the new Hi-Def players. Component or DVI outputs ONLY. J6P will ruin HD-DVD when it comes...
I was discussing this the other day with a couple of friends. Do you think that studios that will be offering Hi Def DVD ( either blu-ray or HD-DVD ) will offer FOOL SCREEN transfers of their movies? I mean this can't be the furthest away from " Hi Def " if they do. I think that they...
It's idiotic reasons like this that why HD-DVD ( oh you know it's gonna be the next format ) should be exclusive to 16x9 sets only. Component and DVI outputs only. Forget the Composite and S-Video. Anything less isn't Hi Def. This way, this format will be tailored to movie fans and HT purists...
Hi Guys, I'm currently just tweaking my Philips Pronto remote again and have stumbled into a little bit of an issue regarding selecting dvd audio. I have created a page for selecting different audio tracks, DD 5.1, DTS, etc etc, but these tracks aren't in any specific order and it varies...
Well it all depends on your configuration. I'm guessing you want to the Driverack for a 2 channel bi-amp install? Well that would be 2x4. The 2 stereo inputs and the 4 outputs, 2 highs and 2 lows. A tri-amped system would use all 6 outputs. hi, mid and Low.
When I was shopping for speakers...I was going for either B&W or Paradigm and Paradigm was better for the $$$. Plus the salesman was kinda of a dick, that didn't help things much.
also when dealing with pro/home equipment such as eq's, make sure that they are set for -10dbu. Alot of pro equipment runs at +4dbu and there's a chance that you will clip the signal and potentially damage your equipment.
PLX series amps are VERY light. 21 lbs for the 3402 which makes it a good touring amp. For Steve's application, in the QSC line I'd definially recommend the MXa, DCA or even ISA line of amps. The ISA line is the cheapest THX certified amps you can buy...from QSC. My only beef with them is...
Steve, To bi-amp say your 3 fronts ( LCR ) you will need 3 amplifiers. One for each channel. As for melting your tweeters, don't max the gains out like you would in a pro rig. Calibrate the system using a test tone, set your receiver/preamp at a reference level and start dialing up the...
well.... a really bitchin system would be bi-amped with a proper crossover ( such as a Rane ). Your speakers would have to be re-wired.....it's a big job...the sound would be awesome though.
Steve you might want to install a new power source for those amps. 2x 20A should do it. Just if you pop the breaker at an extreme level, your tweeters could melt. as for Crown....they are alright. You are getting a good deal with them and that's great. They will hold up nicely. how...
