I am looking to buy a 27" TV with 16:9 mode for my parents. Besides the SONY models that have this feature are there any other brands/models (a bit cheaper than SONY) that would be suggested by this fine, well informed forum? Thanks in advance... Mitch
Jeremy, FYI - My 32HS510 does indeed have the 16:9 enhanced mode which can be set to "on" or "Auto". I suspect that the 36HS510 would also have that feature. Thanks.
Hi all, Sorry for the late reply but I have been busy at work and at watch/tweaking the new TV. As far as inputs are concerned, go to this page at Crutchfield.com - http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...S500&display=L I am not sure of any added or upgraded features on the HS510 as of...
Joshua, Yes, it does do 3:2 pulldown. Does that really mean that I do not need a Pro Scan DVD player? Please join this thread with your opinions and/or, more importantly, the facts. I'd like to know. Thanks...
Hi all - The Good Guys just got the new SONY models in and I was able to pick up the 32HS510 for $1,199 after wheeling and dealing on a price match with goodgys.com. Picked it up yesterday, installed and configured it and it is truly awesome. I did the standard adjustments for the Red Push...
Well - I did take the plunge, but I did not buy the Toshiba I bought the brand spanking new SONY KV-32HS510 instead at Good Guys. It was $1299 but I got them to give it to me for $1199 due to the excellent deal given at goodguys.com which was $1170. I am picking it up Friday - I can't wait to...
Hello all, I have researched, I have visited stores and viewed the tubes. The front runners in my size and price range ended up being the Toshiba 32HF72 and the SONY KV-32HS500. I can't go any bigger due to my entertainment center. I only watch DirecTV (with an elliptical dish) and DVD's...
Hi all, I know that this DRC issue has been debated quite a bit in this forum, however, I have a simple (I think) question and I would greatly appreciate your opinions. I am thinking of purchasing the 32HS500 to replace my 32FS13. I know that the 32HV600 allows you to adjust the DRC and...
A good example of this bowing is while watching the CNN ticker the words coming from right to left will bow up to a high point in the middle and then begin downwards toward the left side of the screen. Basically the horizontal line is not straight. Between an 1/8th and a 1/4 inch off of...
Hi,
This horizontal bowing problem (funhouse effect - whatever) is driving me crazy. Please post any solution(s), if they exist. I have played around in the service menu, but I can not seem to find anything to help.
The set is a KV-32FS13.
Thanks to all!
Jack,
I am certain that it is not the TV since when I access the service mode menu and adjust the HPOS (to the right) to get the image centered it works for the dish programming (Video 1 input), but when I watch a DVD (Video 4 input) the image is then too far to the right.
It did this with...
Before I describe my problem let me state that I am not sure if this is in the correct forum to post this in.
Okay, I have a SONY WEGA KV-32FS13 (2 months old), a Phillips DSR6000 DirecTiVo and a SONY STR-DE875 A/V receiver (each over 6 months old). The receiver accepts s-video from the...
Stu,
I purchased my KV-32FS13 in January and it was an upgrade from my SONY 32" Trinitron. I was interested in the 16:9 mode as well as the component option. I also was fed up with the geometry problems on my old TV.
After a month and a half I am very pleased with the WEGA. The 16:9...
For the past couple of years I have wondered whether or not the NFL would release classic NFL games (in their entirety) on DVD. I have had enough of the "best of" stuff.
The handful of excellent Super Bowls, or even all of them would be a great start. How about the day the Buffalo Bills...
Thanks Doug.
I'm sure that the color, etc. will look a bit better at least. Too bad SONY can't get the flat tube perfected (yet). So a SONY technician/calibrator would not be able to fix this either?
Hi all,
I have been experiencing the "funhouse effect" on my new WEGA (KV-32FS13). It is slight, but I hate it. I have purchased two top of the line Monster S-Video cables (PVR to Receiver & Receiver to WEGA) and a top of the line Monster Component cable for the DVD player. I am still...
Thanks for all of the posts.
I am still within the 30 day period with Best Buy. I think I will most likely keep this set since I could end up with one that has even more problems.
But then again..... (do I feel lucky?)
This is my first post...
I have been reading up on the various problems WEGA owners have been experiencing, but went ahead with my purchase of the KV-32FS13 hoping that I would get a good one. I'm very happy with the set EXCEPT for the horizontal "bowing" or "wave" or, as some call it, the...
