    Subwoofer size in theaters?

Most subs in theaters are either 15" or 18" PA subwoofers. Probably JBL. Most theaters here in Minnesota have pretty crappy bass extention. My home sub sounds better and deeper.

Would you buy similar BRAHMA for $250+shipping

How many people would pay $250 + shipping for a BRAHMA except (not from adire) but basically the same sub with same specs.

Shiva? Are they as good as I heard?

THe shiva has an xmax of 15.8mm, good but there are better drivers out there. The MKII Titanic from parts express seems to be pretty good with an xmax of 17mm.

Build Home subwoofer with 32" SUBWOOFER

Just imagine if the xmax was 15mm, that would mean moving 740 cubic inches:b However, i doubt its anything close to that, the cone would start to flex really bad since its so damn big.

You have been "Out-Woofed" Woofer Challenge

Thats alot of woofers. But how much air they move is important. The earthquake will move probably the same air all your woofers on your speakers move together. An passive radiators do count. At sub frequences they move about the same as the woofer.

What to use to weight down your subwoofer

Where can you get a custom Good looking ROCK SLAB that weights 20-30 lbs? And how much do you think it will cost. My sub weights 74 LBS, its no light weight, but the high excursion drivers shake it pretty good. Any thing i put on top of it slides right off.

What to use to weight down your subwoofer

I got an Earthquake MKIII and the sucker physically shakes on my carpet when hitting deep bass. I hear shaking is not a good thing and means loss of DBs. So what can i do to stop this shaking.

Build Home subwoofer with 32" SUBWOOFER

I think it should sound pretty good if you used your closet as the box. Heck even a small room. Its not only a DB dragger, but goes really low. I can get one used for $500

Build Home subwoofer with 32" SUBWOOFER

Has anyone out there used a this clarion monster in HOME? I hear it goes super deep and is recommended to crossover at 35 hz or lower. I could bet it could out play a Dual SVS ULTRA.

Finally finished my Shiva/AVA250 sub!! (pics)

You may not need any more bracing, but I think adding some fiberglass to the walls could possibly help. They say polyfill is not need for ported boxes, only sealed.

Looking for a pair of bookshelf speakers between $200 - $250

Infinity Entra or the IL10 - I own four pairs of the Entra speakers and they are decent. Quality is nothing to brag about, but they do sound pretty nice and have good bass and nice highs for a bookshelf.

    Smallest Subwoofer?

You would have to make a subwoofer pretty darn air tight so you don't loose the pressure through the years. Obviously Carver has some things up his sleeve. If an 8" cube could have the same output of the MKII 11" then I can't imagine how much more powerful he could make the Signature model with...

    Smallest Subwoofer?

Majestic 200 provides twice the efficiency and twice the output of the short-lived Junior product, which it replaces. Carver claims the active driver's 3" excursion and 3lb. box pressure combine to move 200 cubic inches of air—offering the same performance as the original 11" True model. Its 8...

What do you all think of the yamaha NS-A200XT speakers?

I head these in best buy when i was shopping around. They are horrible sounding if you actually do a side by side test. I ended up with infinity Entra One bookshelfs. They produce clear highs and smooth midrange. I think the yamaha sound like they are covered with a blanket. Those aluminum...

Battle of the small cube subs...Velo, REL, Sunfire...

Earthquake MK-IV -> only 15" cube, so i think its fair to consider it a small subwoofer. Its one heavy sub though, mine weighs in at 74 pounds and still it manages to visibily shake on

My Home Theater got hit by an Earthquake...!!!

Hello people, I own the MKIII-12 - same as the MKIV-15 with 12" driver and same 580 watt amp. I like this sub alot: 1. its only 15" cube 2. Has huge output and clean bass 3. I only paid $590 shipped for it brand new off ebay. For that price, there is nothing you can buy that can beat...

You can actually get the mkiv15 for $1500 online new... just do a search on google. I don't think it would be fare comparing two svs ultra's, but maybe the normal svs pair.

    Earthquake Subwoofer Rocks!

I own the earthquake MKIII-12, smaller driver and with different placment of the drivers and amp. Feeding it deep signals and this 74 pound box visibly viberates (shakes). It sends the vibration through the floor. I'm sure the 15 inch model has more output and since you can pick up the MKIV-15...

The sub of all subs, in home theater?

I've see some subs in my day, but i have to admit this is the most powerful. 4.3 inches of excursion is just scary. What if you put this in a home enclouse, and feed it 1000 watts of power. Don't you think that would beat any of the subs out there...

How do you know your getting <20Hz Bass

Since we cannot hear 20Hz and below how do you know your subs actually producing it. I have the earthquake Super Nova MKIII; when i feed it a say 17Hz Sine wave signal, the drivers make huge excursions and the box vibrates VISIBILY! That vibration which is almost like a messager gets transfered...
