    Digital Cable boxes?

I know we are often at the mercy of our cable providers for what cable box we have. I was thinking about going down to my local Time Warner branch office and see if I can get an upgrade. I've had the same box for 2+ years and I'm sure there has to be someething better out there. Do cable...

    Samsung 50" DLP opinions needed!

Yeah - A buddy of mine got the 50" Sammy for Christmas. Fantastic picture - quite a bit brighter than traditional or CRT RPTVs I've seen. Colors were vibrant. The off-axis viewing was also better than any other set I've seen. Monsters Inc looked fantastic. I did see some rainbows in AotC...

    DLP Technology

I have a friend that has the 50" Samsung and it does look fantistic. DLP is great since there is no burn in, but I did see the occasional rainbow from the colorwheel. It wasn't distracting to me at all. I read a brief article about LCos TVs, look for those at CES. I think they imho may even...

    Marantz RC3200 remote programming

Has anyone taken the time to hook the remote to the PC and do the programming that way? (The remote has a RS232 port and cable) If you have, what did you think? How configurable is it? Do anything interesting with it?

    Just bought a SR8200...whoops

I know exactly what you are talking about. Where it bugs me is on cable. Whenever I channel from an analog cable channel to HBO or other digital cable channel where the audio is DD, then I have a 1-2 sec delay. While the delay does bug me, but the receiver sounds so good and shines in other...

    Station Logos

You know - and it's not like we're asking them not to advertise themselves. What if TNN did a 10-second thing every commercial break, something like the THX sound demo & THX logo before a THX movie. That THX thing is usually what people "crank up" their systems to hear and...ahem...stretch...

    Panasonic 52" DLP RPTV

Have you seen the Samsung in person?!?!? Wow what a great set. I have a friend of mine who has one on order - as they were backordered in our local store (NOW Audio/Video). I was impressed with what I saw in the Samsung. Let me know if you come across a review of the DLP from panasonic. I think...

    wireless keyboard and mouse

I have the new Microsoft one. It states 6ft. maximum range, but I have been using it at 12 feet for a week with no range problems. Bought it at BestBuy for $59 (keybd & optical mouse). They didn't cary the Bluetooth one yet, but I think it is much more expensive.

A Good Video Card For Future Monitor W/DVI ?

Yeah - I'd go GeForce4 if I were you. What I picked up was the PNY GeForce4 Ti4200 64MB at BestBuy for $169. The 128MB card is a bit more, so this seemed the sweet spot for price/performance. The bonus with this card is the memory is clocked at a faster data rate than the 128MB card, so it keeps...

    DLP Rear Projection

A friend of mine recently ordered the Samsung 50" DLP HD monitor. Are there other DLP TV alternatives that are out now or about to come to market? I really like the idea of having a set with no burn in, though the thought of signing up for limited lamp life doesn't appeal to me. So I am still...

Where to pick up a Marantz 8200 for $1200?

I bought a refurb one at accessories4less.com (Marantz authorized internet retailer) for $999. I'm thrilled with it. Their supply comes and goes. They seemed to get a batch about every week, but I haven't kept up with that since I got mine.

    Rear Surround speaker question

What I did was I have RF-3/RC3 up front, and the smaller SF-1(?) for the rears. They are whatever the smallest floorstanding speaker Klipsch makes. I didn't have room for their trapazoidal shaped surrounds. Also, these SF-1 floorstanding speakers have a small footprint. You could also...

I havnt been paying attention; Is DVI/Firewire over yet?

I think Mick might be referring to the DVI connectors on PCs that lets them support flat panel displays. I believe this us the same connector.

Marantz owners what speakers do you have?

Marantz 8200 Klipsch RF-3/RC-3 up front. Klipsch SF-1s for surround. Klipsch KSW-12 for the low-tones. Big fat grin every time I turn it all on!

    MATT - Any progress?

    Is my refurbished 8200 DOA?!

Hmmm - That's disappointing. Before you box it up - get a Marantz tek on the phone. It may be A) something they could work you through, or B) somthing they have delt with before so they may want to do the swap directly. If I were you I'd disconnect everything but the DVD/CD and see what you...

Separates or Receiver in ~600 range?

    A really good setup would be: MARANTZ SM6100SA 50W X 2 STEREO AMP $ 269.99 MARANTZ ST6000 AM/FM STEREO TUNER $ 169.99 and a great setup would be: MARANTZ SM17SA REFERENCE 60W X 2CH AMP $ 549.99 MARANTZ ST17 REFERENCE SERIES TUNER $ 399.99 If I were in your position, I'd get the...

Got my new Klipsch RF-5's AWESOME

I'll jump in with some Klipsch love here. I think their reference series is a fantastic value play. For the money spent, I got some great sound. At the time I couldn't do much better at the same price point. My wife git all upset because I was running with the grills off so I could see the...

Help, New Denon 3802 vs. Refurbished Marantz 8200

MattCPT- Yeah, the analog is quieter than the digital - not by a huge margin, but enough that you need to either volume-up or volume-down as you go from one to the other. As far as how detailed it sounds, I haven't done the double-blind listening test yet, but it sounds good. I've only...

    HDTV content list?

Is there being a list maintained anywhere that discusses who has HDTV broadcasts now - or - what major events are likely to be HDTV in 2002-2003? I've seen mention of specific shows, etc, but am looking for a single place where I can keep track of what is on the HDTV horizion. You see, if I...

Help, New Denon 3802 vs. Refurbished Marantz 8200

I received my refirb 8200 3 days ago, and am just now getting to play with it. The soundstage is nice and warm sounding (I have the Klipsch ref series, which are a little on the bright side). The remote is cool - but I have a lot of programming in my future. It is a little un-intuitive, but...

Best price on line for the Marantz 8200

For those who have been waiting - another batch of refurb. 8200's is at www.accessories4less.com - I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Luis - how did yours turn out? Any one else get a refurb one from them? (edit) Also - how much time did it take for them to process the order and get it to...

    How often do you upgrade?

For me, I've found that if I upgrade every other "generation" its about right. I'm still stuck at DPL 5.1. I could have had Dolby Digital a long time ago - but I skipped that one, and am going to DD-EX, DTS (I don't really count the "matrix" stuff a generation, it's more of an unexpected child)...

    CD vs DVD player

Ok - this is a scant off topic, but let me squeeze it in. What makes a great CD player better than a good CD player? I mean, the medium is all digital - so assuming both players get all the bits, why would one sound any better than the other?

    New Marantz Range Confirmed.

Well look at it this way.. You have yours right now, while I'm still limping along with my Kenwood DPL. I'll try to keep the "gushing" down once I get my 7300 - let's hope it is worh gushing about!

    New Marantz Range Confirmed.

Denon for sure. I have a local shop who said Sept/Oct. They currently do not sell Denon, but will add them with this new line. He mentioned that current model allocation is hard to get, so they aren't going to bother until the new models are released. As far as the Component video badwidth...
