i have the 898 and it is an amazing unit,HT rocks the house i am running all Polk speakers using the 7.1 set up with 2 subs.easy setup great remote,i think i made the right choice but best thing to do is too listen to both with your speaker choice and let your ears decide. good luck and enjoy

i am trying to calibrate with avia,,VERY FRUSTRATING,, how do you set speaker levels when the disk sends the tones to each speaker i cannot adjust them because i have to put the speaker calibration on the tv but then the onkyo 898 sends its own pink noise to each speaker,what am i doing wrong...

OK i have set my system with spl at 75db,then i read here that some people set the spl to 85db and 85/95 for sub,it is taking me awhile to get use to this setting. i find that i like the rears alittle louder,is this ok or should i leave them set at 85db for all 7 speakers,does the spl balanced...

thanks vince,i have a pair of rt1000i polks c/w poweredsub ,i am using the l&r fronts set to large right now until my sub arrives once here i willl set them all to small and try them like that let you now what i think in the near future

i just asked this question in the polls area, i went with the onkyo 898 ,set up was easy ,movies rock the house and the pure audio button for 2 channel music sounds great thur my polk rt1oooi.

in your opion whitch is the better AVR denon 3802 or onkyo 898
