My HTPC is hooked up through my AVR to my Pioneer Kuro Elite Pro-151FD. The picture is clear as could be. Lettering is legible. If yours is not it could be you need to upgrade your video card. I use a Radeon HD 6750 and it's great. But, as time goes go by, I'll upgrade it,
I use 6' and 12' HDMI cables from Fry's Electronics that cost $3 to $8. Why? Simple, I won a $200 HDMI cable years ago, and it goes to my TV from my AVR. I tried a 12' one with a new HTPC into the AVR and it was gorgeous, so I will not buy expensive HDMI cables.
I just moved my HTPC and both servers into our living room, painted a week ago. Now the rooms that the PCs were in are getting painted so they are moved. Well that's crimped the entire Home Theater as that room is being painted so all the surround speakers are unhooked and off the walls and...
The best way to get either 5.1 or 7.1 from HDMI in Windows is to get the on-sale program Splash Pro EX as your player. It plays back DTS, DD, Master and TrueHD all correctly, without any codecs installed or set-up!
I only slightly o'clock it. And while the FX-6100 may be capable of HD, there is no video or HDMI on the M/B.
And, yes, it may be overkill but 1. it works very well, and 2. it was built mostly from the extra parts bin.
Now, back on topic, what's in yours?
Asus Crosshair V Formula M/B
AMD FX-6100 CPU o'clocked a bit
nVidia GT 520 GPU with 2GB and HDMI 1.4
4 HDDs all SATA 3, 7.5 TB total

16GB USB 3.0 Patriot flash for ReadyBoost

Thanks Robert_J As for as software goes for the Dish PVR921, I actually spoke with lead programmer at CES, and it was all done and operating there flawlessly out in the open. In fact, its Linux base is very stable and perfected and I saw some some other software goons try to throw it some...
Does anyone got a suggestion for buying an HD STB now? Dish is coming out with a HD PVR box with OTA and Satellite supposedly in Q2 '03 - anyone have more recent news on this since CES '03? Or should I buy an OTA/DirecTV box instead? Thanks for the help!
I know most of you will not believe this but here it is. When the October 2002 software upgrade came, my DTV1080 "died". All the OTA channels were gone, and most DirecTV ones were too. I called in, they told me to a hard reboot; unplug the unit and pull the card. Plug the card back in and then...
I have it and its been great for me! I have the 4DTV 922 plus the HDD-200 decoder and 10' metal mesh Winegard dish. HBO E&W HD, SHO E&W HD, and Discovery HD Theater, and its video is much better than with DirecTV or Dish!
I had one of the SIR-T150 STB's for about two weeks and its audio output was so low that I called Samsung, and they told me it was defective and that they would pick it by UPS for repair. They did, and had it for about 4 weeks, said it was repaired and sent it back.
Unfortunately, the audio...
I am selling the KLH fronts and rears, and the Infinity center speaker because I got a new receiver (not hooked up yet) that is 7.1 and I cannot find two 1001's for the rear back surrounds. Also, the power output of the new rcr is 125W/channel, which might blow the 1001's.
I might be willing...
DPLII is a great way to play DPL sources like my 100+ pre-recorded tapes and my 50+ LaserDiscs with 5.1 quality sound.
Anyone with an older collection of video software should get a DPLII receiver to update their sound to DVD Dolby Digital or DTS near quality.
In response to Matt Stryker's post:
The KLH front speakers are the AV3001, (2-way & ported, 8" woofer, 1" dome tweeter, and are actually rated at 140W
The matching KHL rears are the AV1001 (2-way & ported, 5.75" woofer, 1" dome tweeter, rated at 80W, but they have handled my 100W per channel...
To KyleS and all others.
I did not select font size and have no idea what I or my computer did to make the font so gargantuan. This was certainly not intentional.
I apologize for what was a ridiculously large font size. Thank goodness I could change it. See it now above.
Selling KLH front speakers (2-way & ported, 8" woofer, 1" dome tweeter, rated at 125w) and matching rears (2-way & ported, 5.75" woofer, 1" dome tweeter), along with a timbre-matched Infinity center channel (twin 4" woofers and 1" dome tweeter. Mint condition, $225, plus shipping from Phoenix...
