I am shopping for a new HDTV and am just about ready to pull the trigger on a 70" Sony SXRD. I have a Sony store near me and I can pick this set up (referb with warranty) for $4400. Are there any other TVs I should look at before I buy this one? I want to stay in the 70" range and this seems...
Yee-Ming, Your right on track. Most friends that ask about the Bose are below average audiophiles. I know they would be happier in the $500-$1000 price range. What about Cambridge Sound Works? They seem to give Bose some competition a few years ago. TedO
First off this thread is NOT to trash Bose. We all know knocks toward them. I have a few friends that want the small size of the Bose cube style systems for their home theater. They would like small speakers that would be easy to hide or would blend in well. In wall speakers are out of the...
Ben,
You don't have to put the Blueprint into a sonotube, you can use it instead of the Av15. The 1503 sells for $239 and would stack up well for your needs. see their web site. Link Removed
The Crown CE2000 sells for $600 new. I bought mine off ebay for $400 and am very happy with it. You...
Ben, Have you thought of using a Blueprint 1503 driver in a sonotube? I have a SVS 16-46CS Plus, then built a sono with the Blueprint driver. The SVS is a great sub, but it just can't keep up with the Blueprint sono, in SPL. But the Blueprint sono is MUCH bigger and a little overkill in...
I once blew a subwoofer driver, the voice coil was damaged. It would play fine at lower volumes, but once you started to turn it up, the driver would start to distort. The driver then deteriorated very rapidly (sound wise) until I replaced it. Moving the cone in and out by hand, I could feel the...
What would be great is to compile all (most) of the questions asked on this board into an FYI page. I would guess most every question has already been answered at least once. Now we just need a volunteer that is well versed in sub building and wed page building. Brax Or maybe all us...
Too bad Mike (that your not in Milwaukee anymore), I could have given you a good deal on my 16-46cs+. As far as getting a sub, it's about the best thing I have done for my home theater system. I started to get interested in subs reading this board so I took the plunge and pre-ordered a...
mike, if you are in the Chicago/Milwaukee area I can give you a demo of a SVS 16-46cs+. I have never heard a Sunfire, but the SVS is one hell of a sub for it's price. Ted
I agree. If money is an issue, either buy a quality used sub or build your own. The jump in sound quality will pay you back every time you use it. Check out some of the original SVS subs for sale on this forum, they sell fairly cheap. Ted
Al,
I am interested. I will stop at a store that carries them to get a feel for the remote. If all goes well I'll contact you and make arrangements for payment.

Tom, I am using a CE2000 in bridged mode to power my Blueprint 1503 Sonosub. I have no complaints at all, I even tried it against the Quest and liked the Crown more. Before that I had a Samson 1000, it is a very good amp, just not bridge able into a 4 ohm load. The Samson had the quietest fan...
I just bought a BFD and installed it into my system. This thing works great for subs and it's easy to use. I paid $125 shipped from Zzsounds.
Here is a link to help with the setup. You can also get Excel worksheet on a sub setup and sine wave files.

Manuel, It would be very difficult with the setup I have to do an A-B comparison. The Blueprint sub needs more EQ help than the SVS, and if EQ'ed, both would have to be done to maximize their output. I could put out the raw numbers though, comped but not EQ'ed.
Here are my SPL numbers near field from the port and speaker. The numbers are comp'ed. (they were measured at a lower volume than the numbers above) Port....Speaker 113.5....103.0 112.0....103.5 112.5....106.5 111.5....109.0 110.0....110.0 110.0....112.0 108.5....113.0 107.5....114.5...
I have my BFD hooked upped and started setting it up yesterday. I can't seem to improve the low end dip at 18hz. I built the sub to be tuned to 18.5hz, so I find this dip very strange. Along with that I still need to do some more work on the higer end and the spike at 28hz. Do you think I should...
Yes it is still for sale. This is the 16-46cs+ model, no internal amp, but it is the biggest of this series tuned down to 16hz. A word of advise here, if you are going to get an amp for this or any other SVS consider a Crown CE1000 or equivalent. These amps can be bridged in 4 ohms to give...
