To find out exact import costs I suggest you contact a customs broker in your area. Typically brokerage charges are related to shipment value. Have the value, description and weight + point of origin available. Ask them for a brokerage quote. You should be able to find a broker much cheaper than...
Not sure if it is the same product but we use a red glazing putty to repair blemishes prior to electrostatically painting elevator doors and frames. Don't remember the brand but it is available at auto supply stores. Very smooth and dries quickly. Hope this helps Rick Favreau
A couple of years ago I was fortunate to meet a rep from the local JBL distributor. I ended up getting s38 fronts +s26 rears + scenter + pb12 for app 800usd taxes incl. The center and s26 had been used for an exhibition so were open box, unblemished. Absolutely and totally satisfied with my...
By setting the dayton crossover to 160 we are getting out of the way so the receiver crossover can do the work. Simply avoiding the signal being manipulated twice. Doing the same job the sub crossover would do, if you had a receiver with no sub controls. I do exactly the same thing with my PB12...
Set to low pass, dial at 160. Set crossover on receiver. I would experiment between 80 and 100. On my own jbl system (s38 + s26 + scenter +pb12) after experimenting I found I preferred the crossover 20hz above the speaker specs. See what you prefer.
To my understanding there is no correct...
Based on the speaker specs looks like 100hz should be about right for the jbl package. Switch between 80 and 100 to see which you prefer. If possible place sub between mains as 100hz can be directional. Suggest you use the crossover on your receiver while defeating the setting on your sub by...
My PB12 has hummed since the day it was plugged in (3 years). Definitely audible from a few feet away when no ambient sound is present. I tried different fixes but the local distributor says it's the nature of the beast, unfortunately. Other than that it has performed quite well, considering the...
Considering the cast my wife and I were very disappointed with this movie. Impossible plot with mechanical performances. Especially since we are Hackman and Devito fans.
To be honest it bored the crap out of us.

I think it depends partly on our own personalities. I owned my previous receiver for eight years. I followed the development of the 1050 and purchased it in May 2000 and have enjoyed it ever since. As a father of three with limited $$$$$ to spend on this hobby I buy with the intent of enjoying...
Vince,
Not sure what carrier (believe it was Fed X) was used as it arrived at my office. Double boxed and well protected. Arrived in perfect condition. If you're not the type who requires every new feature (DPLII)it remains a very solid performer, whether you are listening to DD / DTS or plain...
I've had the 1050 since june 2000. Paid 599USD / total cost to my door $1024 / All taxes included. Only problem so far was with the remote. Received replacement within 72 hours. Have no plans to upgrade but will consider anything Outlaw when I am.
Hope this helps

Since I'm a month away from fifty I know exactly what a whizzer cone is. It is a double ended open cone one slips over willy while standing at the urinal. Handy tool for ensuring that those final few drops hit the porcelain instead of the front of your pants. Don't you remember the catchy slogan...
I have an all JBL set up I was able to pick up through a friend who works for the local distributor. S38 fronts + S26 rears + S center + PB12. All for $780 USD. What a score that turned out to be. I've walked out of showrooms smiling cause I would not trade my little rig for the 2 or 3K set up I...
Welcome to Montreal Brendan,
You could also check out "La boutique electronique" on the west island, as well as Kebecson (I believe they are in the Berri / Papineau area). Both have some variety and demo rooms.
You should also check out "Chez Paree" when you need a break from the HT thing...
Haven't heard the Level III but I'm very pleased with my S series combo S38 Fronts + S Center + S26 Rears + PB12 sub.
Driven by a 1050 Outlaw receiver. Very big sound for the bucks. One lesson learned is that placement and settings DO make a difference. Experiment and enjoy, regardless of the...

Love the golf course analogy. Now that I could go for. I actually have a putting course in our house. I know its there cause my boys leave my putter lying aroud and I trip over it, in the dark, at least once a week.:)

Agree completely about the specs. Just seems so few meet our...
Seems a few conclusions can be made from this thread.
1- Not everyone's tastes for loudness are the same
2- Not all movies are recorded at consistent levels
3- Our H/T's are our toys. How they sound to us is the only important consideration.
Given these variables it seems crucial to me...
I lucked out and found a dealer moving a kit consisting of 2 x S38 + S center + 2 x S26 + PB12. Paid 1200 CDN (app 775 USD). Insane performance for the beans in my opinion, especially when combined with my Outlaw 1050. Can't imagine doing better for the money spent. Total cost $1350. Buy...
Sorry Eddie, I misread your original post. Thought you were looking for advice on complete set up, not only rears. For pivoting rear brackets to face each other when on the rear wall they must extend into the room at least 1/2 of the width of the speaker, since the speaker must turn at least 90...
Eddie, I know what you're going through.

Can't comment specifically on those two models. Have heard HK avr500 & Onkyo 696. Thanks but I'll keep my Outlaw. Plenty of power for my application (17 x 13 ft) + $500 cheaper than the HK or Onk. As for sound I've come to believe that location + set-up are just as important, to a degree, as the...
