They aren't splitters .. they are called multiswitches, and you'll probably need one with multiple inputs (depends on how many different sat locations your dishes need to see) and at least 4 outputs. You run a line from each LNB to one of the inputs and one of the output lines to each receiver...
If you go with Dish Network, you would purchase their 6000 reciever that does HDTV decoding/upconversion/etc and a module that plugs into it if you can get OTA HDTV. You will also need a decent UHF antenna to receive the OTA HDTV signals. Effectively, the 6000 is your set top box for both...
I'm still waiting for them to offer HD/Dish in Hawaii. Until then, I'm still married to the cable. Do you know if there's been any change in that offering? -David
I'll leave it to others to post the new outlaw newsletter, but the new product promised to be announced before the all-star break is a 7 channel mid range power amp, intended to be paired with the 950, as an alternative to hi-end receiver products.
The 595 (which I have) lacks any of the DPL-II settings.
Does the 600 allow you to set any of the DPL-II parameters?
I think there are maybe three settings for DPL-II. If it doesn't have it, that's ok .. usually the default settings are fine.

I had this same thing when we lived in Northern California. The phone connection had to be there or the box would not receive any of the premium channels, even if you never ordered any pay per views. The only thing the phone connection was used for was to periodically ping the server and upload...
also ... If it matters to you, Denon is not known for having the best remotes, but Onkyo's remotes seem to be pretty good. (I have the 595; the remote can control 8 devices, and it's also a learning remote, but only the device keys are backlit.)
-David
ok .. I bought mine around April/May 2000, so it sounds like it's the same model.
65905 means 65", 9 means diamond or platinum, and 05 is the series for that year, so a 65x05 are all in the same line, same year. I have the manual in case your friend doesn't have it.
I have the dvd player...
My main set is a Mitsu 65905 .. is that the model? If not, it might be helpful to know which model it is.
Mine certainly works with a progressive input. I have a panny RP91 running in progressive mode, with component video cables wired directly into the tv's DVD inputs, which can handle...
Phil:
I don't have them on stands. I have the fronts all sitting horizontally, with the tweeter end towards the center, toed in and angled down towads the listening area using rubber door stops, on top of my built-in entertainment center. There's lots of space above and behind them. (More than...
BTW, I'd love to be able to compare my 512s with the low end B&W's (3xx series, is it?) which, I believe are priced similarly to these, and I'd also love to compare them to a Diva system consisting of 2.1/C3/2.1's to at least create a bit of a level playing field there .. though the 2.1s are...
Phil:
I have 5 Aperion 512Ds. The rest of my system is:
- Yamaha RX-V995 receiver @ 100 watts x 5
- Dharman sub
- Parts Express Speaker King 12 guage speaker wire
- Panny RP91
- Older Sony CD changer with optical output
I haven't ever heard any of the other speakers or equipment...
This is a question for Mike Knapp, I would think. (Or Dan Wiggins.)
You might want to ask this on hometheatertalk, but Mike shows up here sometimes too. Unfortunately, the topic won't really stand out as a question about the Adire DIY speaker kit and what sort of power you need to drive them...
John ..
Yes, once you find and test the discreet codes that you want to add or reprogram you can do that with the remote. The discreet code list for receiver 0176 will only work under a device key that you program to operate as a receiver using code 0176. (Advanced: You can even reprogram the...
Can't you just bypass the receiver for video? That will work since the tv has two s-video inputs. You would loose the receivers on screen display, but you generally don't need that anyway.
directivo s-video and 1 pr analog audio out -> tv input 1
directivo digital audio out -> receiver...
Don:
After ordering my MX-500, I went to WalMart to pick up a learning Cinema 7, but the only one I found there was a silver non-learning version. Fortunately, it did everything I needed it to do. Radio Shack had their updated version of the 1994, but it was around $30 - $40 as I recall and...
BTW, the discreet code for the TV/DBS input is either 100 or 173. Try them to see which one is the correct code.
(Select reciever, then press the star key, then the 3-digit code.)
-David
Yes, you can program a key to send any code with the non-learning cinema 7. I didn't do that, I just programmed it for receiver code 0176, and then used the magic key to test and send discreet code to my MX-500 remote, so it could learn them. For example, the discreet codes for 0176 (Yamaha...
John:
At first I thought that's what you meant, but it didn't make sense to me because there's no way anybody could tell you what the codes are for your cable remote unless it's made by OFA. Your cable company might be able to help you.
I think you just have to try them all if they don't list...
Don't you have the manual? The Yamaha receiver manuals are online, but they don't have a link for the 2095. So, just find another model with the same or similar remote.
http://www.yamaha.com/yec/customer/m...an_av_rcvr.htm
I'm assuming you want to program your yamaha remote to operate your...
I wish my bedroom receiver 595 had pre-outs also, but in this price class you just don't get that feature, I guess, but it would be great if you did. On the other hand, look at everything that the 600 includes.
The 595-competitive Denon 1802 has pre-outs, but only for three channels: left...
oops .. onkyo just raised the bar. Though you have to wait until its April release and then see if it's as good as it should be.
Onkyo Announces New Receivers
-David
Well, if the 600 is really the price equivalent replacement for the 595 at an MSRP of $530, they've outdone themselves, featurewise ... compared to the 595 the 600 has (according to the press release link, above):
- 6 amplified channels x 80watts at 8ohms
- DD-EX and DTS-ES.
- optical...
Jeff .. for calibration and anytime you change any part of the configuration I would think that you want the Equalizer out of the way. Can it be turned off? If not, start with everything in neutral positions, as if you just powered up the receiver out of the box for the first time. Once you get...
Nice front & center.
Personally, I wouldn't combine two cables. I think you might be better off buying the coax kit at Radio Shack and building your own cable.
Please keep us posted .. I'm curious about how this ends up working out for you.
-David
If you have a sub and you're using the dedicated subwoofer output on the receiver (via a coax cable with rca connectors) then the receiver is doing all the bass management. In this case, you should set the sub's x-over to the max frequency position to get it completely out of the way. You don't...
Well, that is a challenging room. I have a larger space, bigger ceilings (open, wood beam stuff), but I have carpeted floors and big window coverings on all my glass (most of the walls are glass), and my space is open on one of the long walls.
Have you tried the tech support email address at...
