Hi Rich. I'm sorry that I'm the only one replying to your post! But I will say that as part of the product development team here at Aperion, I always use music as the critical test for our speaker's performance. And of course there are a number of great sounding SACD's out there that sound great...
NHT gets my vote. the SB2's are quite nice. They are a little brighter and more detailed for music, without being overly sibilant or fatiguing. Of course, you should just try them both out in your room.
For those interested, I just wanted to make a quick announcement. OUR NEW WEBSITE IS NOW LIVE!!! After over a year in production, it's finally here. We're very excited. I want to welcome you to check it out. There are some very "edu-taining" home theater crash courses for those wanting...
Hi Jerry. These are all great suggestions and I agree. You know, a lot of our customers get their speakers piecemeal style too. There are a lot of great speakers for under $400 - you'll be happier in the long run sound and performance-wise. But if you do need a complete set of speakers for under...
I'll take a stab at a couple of the question points.
1. For nice and clean look, the sub amp is placed on the back panel of the sub. Unfortunately the controls are all connected to the amp. It's a cost thing. It just costs a lot to put the controls on the front, but then again, even if you do...
It's good to look at a sub that can really perform. Most subs that come with a packaged sub/sat system usually aren't that great. And a sub is very important indeed. I wouldn't say it's the most important - it would not be pleasant to listen to the sub all by itself - but it of course gives you...
I concur. Set the speakers to small, thereby activating your receiver's 80Hz crossover, and then set the sub to about the same crossover point, or turn off the crossover in the sub if you can and go direct. Cheers,
I listened to it briefly with a friend recently. It's impressive considering it's size. Outside the boomer, there are a number of great sounding "tiny" or small subs out there.
PSB is usually reserved for the higher eschelon of listener, in the eyes of most audio enthusiasts and reviewers/editors. The JBL studio series isn't bad though. See what you think of them. If you can get them at a decent discount it might be worth it.
One other thing, once you do get the sub working well, placement of the sub is a key factor for great performance. The basic rule is if you want more bass put it in a corner. If it's too boomy then get it out of the corner. There a a few other guidelines. Here's a good, albeit complicated...
A new receiver might be a best choice. However, if your receiver has sub pre-outs, then you should get at least a modicum of performance. Check this: Turn off all your main speakers so just the sub is hooked up and play a good bass CD. Are you hearing anything at all from the sub? If not, make...
Hi there. I would probably go with a center channel next. As you've heard before I'm sure, they do the most work in a movie. However, if you have to wait a while between each purchase, you might ask yourself what's more important: the RUMBLE, or the enveloping surround sound, or the...
