Just to clarify, in order to ensure I'm getting TrueHD (where available) through my 5.1 analog connection, what should the settings be in the HD-A1's Setup menu?

Thanks, Neil. Now, when you say the Sony/Samsung do not play/decode lossless audio, that means at all, correct? Not through analog either? So playing my HD-A1 through HDMI and the Sony/Sammy through 5.1 would get me nowhere. If that's the case, it seems best to wait.
