Colossus now shipping from DeepDiscount. I’ll not get it for a couple of weeks so anyone here brave/foolish enough to also have taken a chance please put me/us out of our misery ASAP.
I’ve no problem with Paramount per se. Like I said your beef lies with IMDB. Chastise them if their info is erroneous but my google search before posting led me to believe the OAR was other than 4:3. FYI (sic) is usually a giveaway as far as "tone" is concerned.
That’s entirely unwarranted and something of an overreaction. I was basing my comment on the tech spec at IMDB and posts I’ve seen on other forums bemoaning the lack of widescreen on this title. Perhaps you’d be better off directing your considerable ire towards IMDB?
http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/ind...plate=newsfull As expected the so-called "Event Horizon:SE" failed to materialise in R2 October 11 and has vanished from sites.
I have a Toshiba player and the subs are easily removed. Others have also reported being able to remove them with their players. Always ways around these things with a bit of effort.
This is available for pre-order - only $17USD at DVDSoon. Cancels out the bad taste of paying for the third. Robocop 2 is excellent IMO. Be interesting to see if the upcoming Sin City translates Miller’s ideas to the screen better. I somehow doubt it.
Subs are easily removed with Toshiba players. There’s no way the disc would be released as is in the States with the commentary track intact. Great movie.
Being pedantic, the disc wasn’t recalled. Existing copies were allowed to be sold but all future pressings after the settlement date had to have the statue digitally blurred. Also the sculpture used in the movie was (too)"similar" to an existing work by an artist but it was not his actual piece...
Sold the Avery LD set for $200 and there are loads of Tom & Jerry out in Japan on perfectly legal packages at a very reasonable (for Japan) price. BTW, I’m a graphic designer myself and really like the packaging.
Thie best of discs are due out in the UK so are probably preferable as their packaging will be in English. Very, very disappointed that they’ve gone for this format instead of seasons as promised originally. The total silence on Rockford is not encouraging.
Jeff, why not get the R4 box set? Can be had for a little as $40 (as opposed to $53 at DDD) and is a PAL presentation of a PAL source as opposed to an NTSC conversion. Even on the R4 set the picture is far from perfect but much better than the R2 so a further degradation via NTSC would be best...
Is that sarcasm? There’s me thinking we didn’t export it to the States. :D http://www.dvdfr.com/dvd/dvd.php?id=6738 Rest of the wwworld is just a click away y’know?
This has been out on DVD for some time in France although without English subs. Of course this means it’s not of much use to most English only speakers but it certainly is welcomed by the audience in it’s country of origin. Slightly bigger world-view needed here people. :)
DVDFile: Presented in its original aspect ratio of 1.66:1 and anamorphically encoded (you may notice small black bars on the sides depending on the amount of overscan on your monitor), Giant gets the deluxe treatment here. http://www.dvdfile.com/software/revi...o_6/giant.html
Not sure what (if any) differences there’ll be but this is listed as a 3 disc Sp Ed in the UK. Maybe a small chance this could be a different (anamorphic) transfer?
Been out in France in the full widescreen ratio for a while now. Don’t get your hopes up if you haven’t seen it as it’s a very mediocre movie indeed. Quite sadistic though. My Target Earth shipped from Deep Discount a couple of days ago.
