    Phone Call Interrupts Internet Service

A while back, my computer was setup such that once online, incoming phone calls would not interrupt the internet service and the outside party would get a busy signal. Now when I am online, phone calls knock me off the line and ring in. I preferred it the way it was before but I do not know how...

    2004 NCAA Football season

Let me start out with this: I am not saying that is OSU is better than LSU, USC or even Michigan at this point. They have not played any of these teams head to head, so who knows. All I am doing is defending the Bucks last year and up to this point this year. I also agree that it is very...

    Las Vegas 10/20/03

Yea, this was a good episode, the kind that will draw you back again. Not as deep as some of the best dramatic shows on TV (say ER, Law & Order, etc.), however entertaining none the less. My only complaint is that they need to make the James Caan character a little more likeable and sympathetic...

Movies that are too weird for their own good.

Many people I know always thought the movie "Tommy" was a little too far out.

NFL Hall of Fame candidates 2003

Being a Raiders fan, I think Ray Guy, Lester Hayes and Ken Stabler should get in. Cliff Branch, Jim Plunkett and Todd Christensen were great players, but not Hall of Fame type players. Locks to me in order are 1) Barry Sanders 2) John Elway. Art Monk should be a lock. He was a consistent...

Anyone Get Their Child Tax Credit Refund Yet ?

I received my $1,200 check on July 29. Plan on spending every penney of it on household items such as appliances and electronics.

    Director John Schlesinger Dies

Schlesinger seemed to bring out top notch performances from his actors. Dustin Hoffman is one of my all time favorite actors and Midnight Cowboy and Marathon Man represent two of my favorite Hoffman films. What stood out in Midnight Cowboy for me was how well the "buddy aspect" of the film...

    Movie sequences that UNNERVED YOU...

I have to 2nd Dead Ringers, especially the scene where Jeremy Irons displays his homemade medical equipment. Also the first time I saw the scene in Casino near the end where the two brothers got a clubbing, that scene stuck with me for a while. Although it seems tame today, in its day Altered...

    American Legion Boys' State

When I went to Boys State in 1975 at Ohio University (Athens) there was a sex scandal between Boys State participants and female college students who stayed for the summer and were working for the event. It resulted in at least one high ranking Boys Stater (might even had been the one elected...

    MAXIM's HOT 100 2003. :-)

This is scandalous. Brittany Spears clear down at the 30th position. :D Seriously, Halle Berry has to be at or near the top with all the attention (awards) and notoriety (nudity in films) she has gotten the past couple of years.

The End of The Big East Conference?

I would think that if those teams mentioned moved to the ACC, then Pittsburgh, which is getting its football act together with coaching and facilities, would be forced to make noise about moving to the Big Ten.

    ***Official Survivor: Amazon Discussion Thread***

I am really enjoying this Survivor so far. The group dynamics appear different with the same gender tribes. Recent Survivor shows have turned into a Survival of the Weakest almost at the outset. So far in this season the weak have been kicked out. With the mixed sex tribes, the weaker females...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: "The Day The Earth Stood Still" (guest review by Jack Briggs)

This was one of three sci-fi movies (Forbidden Planet and Invasion of the Body Snatchers were the others) I saw while growing up in the 1960s that left the greatest impression. It was unforgettable and just stuck with you. The music and robot were just horrific at that time to a very young kid...

Weight training--anyone into it around here?

I have been lifting weights now off and on (mostly on) for 20 years. I do not know if it has been mentioned, but most serious body builders work out at least 4 days a week and each body part (chest, biceps, triceps, shoulders, back, legs) twice a week. The key to longevity is no different from...

Which digital camera do you have?

At Christmas, I purchased the Olympus D-550 Zoom, which is 3 MP and 2.8 optical zoom. Prior to that I had a Toshiba 2 MP camera and had to return it for lack of quality. The Olympus combined with the Epson Photo 825 photo printer takes and prints fabulous pictures.

Rank the following 5 actors in order of their greatness. Robert De Niro 34% Al Pacino 25% Jack Nicholson 20% Paul Newman 15% Marlon Brando 6% Wow! What has happened to Dustin Hoffman? He would have cracked this list not too many years ago. Is Robin Williams funny? No 72% Yes...

Did anyone here watch Chevy Chase's talk show?

Yep, Chevy appeared totally unprepared, disinterested and detached, like he just walked off the street or was shoved into the studio. Although Magic Johnson's talk show was also bad, at least he tried and put a little effort into it.
