I would have thought it would be self-evident that a manufacturer that can't produce speakers that have ANY KIND of audio reputation would be similarly understoofd to have minimal interest in producing good sound in their 'electronics.'
If a bloody simple consumer spending 1-2-3 thousand...
If you have any doubts about the Japanese having no interest in sound, please give me a list of known 'quality' Japanese speaker companies.
If this realization doesn't open your ears - what will?
Unfortunately most people have been sucked into the light, button and format show -- and the...
This seems to be the usual results with Japanese-designed audio products.
Here's a case where John Wayne seems to shoot from all 5-6-7 channels - and the helicopter goes overhead nicely - that is, the surround 'gimmisk' stuff 'works' - but as for ACCURACY or FIDELITY of audio - it is an...
What's the hype about Sherwood? I've listened to their 'higher priced' receivers and the bass was slushy and loose just like almost all Far East stuff. Nothing clean or crisp (referring also to upper freqs). The Outlaw 1050 far out-performed them.
Now the Koreans are supposed to be coming up...
You don't lose any tuner! The 950 has one!
There is some REAL STUPIDITY going on among manufacturers and they are SHOOTING THEIR OWN FOOT!
in the 'old' days the terminology was pretty damn clear what you were getting as per the classication of a pirece of equipment.
A receiver was ... A...
It was Dolby EX that was added
Now it's the 9th Dec. It's OK with me if the 950 would be coming in even February. But it would be nice to hear SOMETHING!
By the way, for a pre-pro usually - is it possible to adjust the output level to each power amp channel separately? I would think this...
Really wondering about this - hope someone can explain:
"How does the five/seven bit affect usual film surround?
Does it also mean that the rear channel will be split to L and R - rather than both being
mono if one uses 2 rear centers?"
How does the five/seven bit affect usual film surround?
Does it also mean that the rear channel will be split to L and R - rather than both being mono if one uses 2 rear centers?
Outlaw has said that they have changed the 950 pre-pro so that it will have a 'five/seven channel stereo mode.'
What does that actually mean? How does that compare to whatever it was that they had planned before.
Maybe this is one of the reasons for the delay. Anyhow i would trust if they...
Any news on the Apex 7701 'do everything' DVD?
One question is that can they 'legally' decode SACD? If they infringe on Sony's copyrights/patents won't that mean big trouble?
On the other hand if they stay far enough away in reproducing SACD as Sony meant - and avoid court fights - who will...

I think we are really discussing viewpoints on evaluating national economics rather than the Outlaw.
I was trying to say that the question really goes back to the 'wealth' of the economy rather than the numbers associated with currencies. I was trying to bring out that a lot of the...
Hi 'Maplehead Friends'
Why would the exchange rate have anything to do with things except as an absolute reflection of the wealth of Canadians etc.?
Everything else on the market is going to be subject to the same exchange rate and if there was a super 'Made in Canada' product it would be...
With technology moving so quickly on all these formats and prices coming down (ex-factory not much above $60), a possible strategy is to find a $100 retail player that works.
And use it while the market 'shakes out.' And then in a year or so - put in $150-200 and get a 'good' one - and use...
What's going on here, folks?
Outlaw 950 is still in the beta-test stage as we all know.
Beta-test means exactly that BETA-TEST - whether the beta-testers themselves or Outlaw people noticed something, it may very well be a problem of sorts.
That's EXACTLY why there is this period of...
Yeah - well great for Outlaw and the Award!!
But do NOT be 'distracted' by the Internet aspect! And DO NOT congratulate the wrong thing! - by Outlaw succeeding it has found a way to USE the Internet to get the 'word out.'
There is nothing intrinsically 'wrong' with 'dealers' - but they most...
The Award was 'announced' on the Outlaw 1050 Saloon page:

News just in:
Stereophile Guide to Home Theater awarded their 2002 Editor's Choice Gold Award to the Outlaw 1050.
The category was "High End" components!!
I think the 'clean' and 'clear' sound of Outlaw as it reproduces MUSIC (and thus ALSO film sound) is what puts it heads and shoulders on top.
And I'm not aware of any 'surround sound' problems - quite the opposite - its decoding in terms of channel 'definition' is superb and the 6th channel is...

" great about getting product fixed
for free even when it's past its warranty period."
That's good - what a lot of people don't realize is that the warranty period DOES NOT limit the time where a manufacturer is responsible for mfrs'. defects!!
The warranty only...
Sorry - yes - it seems so
Have some fun - and look at this URL
http://www.cinemasource.com/products...cal/local.html
Anyhow it is TOTAALY WEIRD that one goes to
www.sherbourn.com
http://www.sherbourn.com
and one gets all kinds of registration stuff etc.
Come on - anyone SLIGHTLY aware of...
OK - so what IS the Sherbourne URL? And phone number?
And WHY OH WHY can't Sherbourne OWNERS even SPELL the brand correctly - and 'they' complain about Outlaw's logo? (which to me is real cool)
So Sherbourne should just change their name to SHRBRN :-)

I appreciate that SACD de-coding CAN be done - but I might suspect there would be some copyright and/or patent problems - any ideas on this?
(The closer it comes to doing what Sony does, the bigger the risk of legal difficulties - the farther away it is - to stay out of the courts - the...
Please folks
Keep us posted on what you hear about the 7701 - it is clear it will set a 'price' reference - and I will be as happy as anyone to get everything it claims for $100 plus a toaster - but more relevantly, their blah-blah will be something all manufacturers will have to watch - which...
I'd be curious to know what the 'problems' would be with the 'sound' of the Outlaw 1050. Everything I can find says its capability to play MUSIC well is WAY UP on the scale. And that the decoding is right 'on spot.' Combined they knock the Tokyo-stuff off the shelf - as Japan rarely pays...

Guess they took the switch off. that doesn't mean it can't be upgraded. Depends on what they left inside.
Only way to know is to put in an upgrade and see what happens. (The switch thing was NOT necessary - and actually only a danger! - as you could put in garbage if you did not shut it...
TA
The upgrade process is simple. You just put it in (the burned CD) with the upgrade switch on back 'on.'
You wait then till the screensaver changes to another screen. it's done - and you put switch back (to avoid wrong stuff going there)
MP3's should work perfectly. But the CD delay is...
Come on folks - there's no reason to go beyond 16 gauge - unless you want 'thicker' for 'decorative' purposes. The 'story' is in the tightness and 'cleanliness' of the 'terminals.' Believe me, please!!!!!
Hours spent on 'scientific' A-B'ing!
