Actually my mitsu 500 does the same thing. You have to go to the menu screen and access them for the guide, and it does the rest for me. I receive the local channels via OTA HD, and they come in on the guide for me. The sony was the first to do it, and now the sony and the mitsu both do it...
Hey I would just be happy that you dont have to go through Sony. You would have been waiting months for a new one. Directv has always been good about handling any problems that have come about.
I dont think it is Directv related, rather that RCA makes awful receivers. Mine locked up a while back. I talked to the people at RCA in Indianapolis, and they told me that there might be a recall on the unit.
Yes that is your problem. The Sony receivers run extremely hot, and only have a small (tiny) fan to cool them, and it virtually does nothing. If you want to upgrade to an HD box, i would recomend the mitsu 500. I started out with the cheaper toshiba, but when i switched to the Mitsu, no more...
If you go into the setup menu, you choose local area. You will then input your zipcode after it loads, and you will then be able to pick up local channels
I know that you guys are in love with the Toshiba, but I have to tell you a story. I bought the Toshiba widescreen with their HD box, and got it home and it was not what I expected. My neighbor has the Elite, and i loved his. So after careful consideration, I decided to return it, and...
I too was having this problem with the toshiba HD receiver. Everytime i called, the only answer I could get was to unplug for 30 seconds and reset the box. Finally I had had enough. I went and bought the Mitsu HD box, and it is like a kid in a candy store. No problems at all. So I put the...
It might be the STB. I use the Mitsu HD-500. It is absolutely wonderful. I tried the Toshiba box at first, because it was cheaper, but the Mitsu is much better, and offers so many more features. But I do have the NFL ticket, and of course those games look wonderful, but I have not had too...
It is true. I have heard through about 6 of my friends that have the sony, that it runs very hot. The mini fans do absolutely nothing. Like I said earlier, the Mitsu might be a little pricey, but it does everything the Sony does, and does not run hot. Atleast mine hasnt.
I have tried the radio shack amplified with no success, and i am starting to think that the Terk indoor/outdoor is the best i can get, and it is worth it.
I also have the mitsu 55" diamond series HDTV. I also use directv and I use a mitsu 500 STB. I did not have that problem, but I watched it through the NFL ticket. I did change over to the local to show a friend the difference, and it was a little worse, but nothing like you described, so you...
I personally started with a toshiba, but have gone with a little bit of an upgrade in the mitsu 500. I absolutely love this thing. The guide is completely integrated, and it is so easy to use.
I use the mitsu 500. I love it. I had the toshiba, but traded it in. I know the mitsu costs a little more, but it works so well. I use it in conjunction with my Mitsu 55 inch diamond series, and that may be the reason. As far as Chicago goes, I am not sure, but you can most certainly get...
Yeah, I tried that, and got absolutely no stations. I could pick up the regular stations if I messed around with the antenna each and every time, but no HDTV channels.
To start with, progressive scan is not the same as 3:2 pulldown. Most good progressive scan players have 3:2, but not all do. If you get a player that does not have 3:2 pulldown, make sure your TV does. For instance my TV has the 3:2 pulldown, but my dvd player does not. (Mitsu 55" diamond...
I have had my Mitsu 55 inch Diamond series for about 3 months now, and I must say, I am amazed. My question is, I live in a apt./condo area, and I am having trouble with every antenna I have tried to pick up OTA in HD. Anybody have any suggestions. I have tried the on the dish antenna, and...
