I didn't look at all the listed times I saw in one of the posts when I was checking last night. I didn't mean to imply that 23:45 was the only time in the film I saw those lines.
I found it happening at about 23:45 into the movie. I noticed during the first viewing, but no one else in the family did. I'm viewing it on a 46" 1080p LCD with a Sony upconverting DVD player. I changed the output of the player from 1080i to 720p to 480p, but the lines were always there. I also...
They may only sell 30K of a good title now with a format war going on, but a lot of people are thinking that if there is only one format that the number of copies sold for a given title would increase exponentially. For example, if Universal sells 30K for a good title now, it may still be stuck...
Are there any episodes in season 1 that have an Everglades air boat in them? Looks like in season 2 there is an episode where the boys buy one, but we haven't seen them halfway through season 1. I always thought those boats looked cool with the flat base and the big fan in the back.
I would highly recommend season 1 to anybody that is interested in Flipper. The picture quality on these is outstanding considering it is a show from 1964-65. They did some high quality underwater filming for the show (or at least used high quality stock footage, I don't know which). The...
I just got an email from Disney that states the new disc is ready and that it will be mailed to me. They will provide a return mailing label with the disc so that I can send the old disc back.
It seems that a lot of the awareness of product placement must be based on the viewer's awareness of brands. To start with, do you think of Casino Royale as a Bond movie or a Sony production? Do you look at the content of a cell phone screen or the brand? I would think someone has to be pretty...
I'm just a Joe Schmoe with no film credentials and a sometimes faulty memory, but the BD looks like what I remember seeing in the theater. Actually it looks better at home because there is more of a 3-D effect. As to the product placement, I have no clue what kind of phones he used and Bond...
I found the PQ on the UE of YOLT to be superior to the SE. So while it may not rate an absolute high score for PQ, its relative score compared to the SE would be much higher.
Dave, Die Another Day is the only UE DVD that doesn't carry over the special features from the SE. In general, the new transfers are far superior to the SEs, especially the Connery films and OHMSS. The restoration on some of the older ones such as Dr. No and Goldfinger are spectacular. Here's...
To each his own, but you have nearly half the SEs as being better if some of your question marks go to the SE. Goldfinger - The UE easily. The Living Daylights - I thought the SE was fine, but the UE is better, sharper. TWINE - UE is better overall, although the explosions tend to blend into...
It won't load in your player or DVD-ROM drive, yet it might work on a different player that you have. Kind of strange. A few of us have had the same problems with that disc, and only that disc, but it really doesn't seem to be that widespread since the forums haven't exploded with that issue.
They said they would contact me when it was ready and not to send it in until then. When I got off the phone with them there was no doubt in my mind that they were taking care of it. I guess there is some doubt now after reading that others received different responses.
So far Disney has followed up as promised. They provided me a prepaid mailing label to send the disc back when a replacement is ready. Unlike others, I was specifically told that a new disc would be forthcoming. I guess we'll all find out whether that was accurate or not.
Just got this back from MGM Online regarding an inquiry about the problem I had with From Russia With Love: "Thank you for your email. If you have experienced problems with your DVD and seek a replacement, please contact 20th Century Fox as they have been appointed to handle all of MGM's Home...
I called Disney yesterday about the Prowler of the Everglades issue. As mentioned above, they are aware of the issue. I was told that I would be sent a prepaid mailer to return my current disc. They said to hold onto it until the new discs are ready which would be about 6-8 weeks. They will call...
Overall I'm very happy with the UEs, but one thing I find frustrating is the inability to contact the company that put these out to inquire about discs that won't play (e.g. FWRL for a few of us). On an MGM website with logos for JamesBond.com there is a form to submit problems, but the email it...
I went to disneydvd.com and sent in a report about the problem with the Prowlers of the Everglades episode. I suggest others call or do the online report to increase the chances of getting this fixed.
I just discovered last night that From Russia With Love won't play on my Denon 2200 DVD player. It plays fine on my Sony NS75H player. Edit: My PC DVD-ROM won't play it either so it seems like I just got a bad disk. I'll return it and see.
To my eye, the skin tone of Bond in YOLT looks much more realistic in the UE. Note the tan neck, untanned chest, and tanned forearms. Very typical for a white male. In Thunderball, the UE looks much sharper. The SE looks fuzzy in comparison. Also note the building to the right of Largo. The...
There is another comparison of all the Bond DVDs at: http://filmz.dk/articles/view/1100/ Click on the title of each movie to go to a page full of screenshots. Then click on each picture to switch back and forth between the SE version and the UE version. While these are not the R1 UEs, in...
Looking at screenshots the framing doesn't appear insignificant to me, but when I actually watched Goldeneye I didn't notice anything unusual. I just got caught up in the action again. I don't have a trained eye, so maybe those with one will be troubled. What is obvious to me when watching the...
