The running time is 71 minutes and sme spare seconds. The maximum you can fit on a CD. Shore said he had to try very hard to fit the score on a CD (much editing). I am betting a double disc set comes out down the road.
I read The HOBBIT this week and as I was at the point where the dragon goes...
No, it was a very big budget film. The distributor raped it prior to release, removing so much footage that it no longer made any sense. The uncut version is a much better film, though still flawed by Cimino's direction and Lambert's performance (which can be blamed on Cimino, since he refused...
Just wanted to bump this so people see and are aware of this travesty.
Artisan just completely sucks. My wife loves this film (well, she loves Lambert and wants to eat him alive  ) and she was hounding me about this DVD. Not now.
Thank God that, well, read my signature...
I do not know if this is the right forum, but since it is software based, I am guessing yes.
Anyway, I picked up the CD soundtrack for this film today. Could not help it, after reading so much about it. Well, as I drove home with the CD playing in my Outback, I was just entralled. This is...
So they finally put the trailer on a DVD and do it FULL FRAME?! For Chr**'s sake, Warner. Will you ever get it right?
I hear the documentary is not anamorphic. :frowning:
I would hold off on any more Shaw Bros. releases, as all of the films are getting a makeover in Hong Kong and will be released on DVD in vastly improved editions starting next year.
Many current Shaw Bros. releases are not even legal.
I went to a nearby TWEETER during lunch today and looked at a number of sets. Both the 46" Mitsubishi and 47" Panasonic were playing HDNET and looked exceptional. The Mitsubishi was a little washed out, but factory setinsg cannot be used to judge picture quality. I can only say that both sets...
Pay Pal was able to reverse a fee for me when the seller refused to answer phone calls or emails. But I had it done just 3 days after the money was sent. If I had waited longer, the seller could have pulled the money from his account and I would have been screwed.
I hated this movie. My wife liked it. She asked me to rent it. So I went to the local Blockbuster, only to find 50 Pan & Scam copies. I saw the manager and he instantly knew what I was going to say, so he just spit out the response (this is somewhat of a paraphrase, so forgive me): "We don't...
Both the local Circuit City and Best Buy had BOTH versions, with far more Pan & Scam than widescreen. I asked a clerk at each store if they were stocking more pan & sham, or if the widescreen was just selling better.
Both clerks replied it was selling much better and one added, "Thank God."...

Here is an excellent article on the front loading and how Harry's numbers are not all that impressive.
With so many screens playing this film every 30 minutes, it's easy to get a seat, folks. It's not selling out. Heck, when I saw PHANTOM...
You are 100% correct. Not to mention the studios get less money as the film plays, so the more they make up front, the better off they are. But the theater chains go right along with it, because they do not want to lose out on any big releases.
It is terribly frustrating to go to a theater...
If Lucas does not release the ORIGINAL Trilogy on DVD, than I guess I will have to go out and buy a 35mm projector and track down prints for all 3 films because I abhor the so called Special Editions.
I disagree. When MI2 was released, it was in so many theaters, that Shanghai Noon was relegated to the 200 and under capacity screens. I spoke to a manager at a local theater who said well over a thousand people were unable to get into Shanghai Noon because it was in too small a theater and it...
The wife loves both Brad Pit and Robert Redford, so this Wed she wants to see SPY GAME. Well, that ain't gonna happen because after calling every theater within an hour of me, it is clear that SPY GAME will only be seen on the very smallest screens, in the smallest auditoriums, most with mono...
I have looked at both sets myself and spent some time with the settings and both look very good. If I had to choose, I'd have to decide based on how they would look in my living room because both sets are exceptional. The Panasonic might have an edge because it is a bit cheaper and a bit larger...
Heath, I do not think "Fill" is the correct setting:
Go to www.avsforum.com and into the HDTV hardware section and ask for help. That forum has the most experienced video-files around and I am sure that they can help you.
I would do two tutorials: A beginners and an advanced, which could start after the beginners, that touches on topics like Super35, Open matted films, etc.
Otherwise Joe Sick pack will get confused and click off.

"My wife actually prefers widescreen"
Tom_G, that's what is being said and I can only hope it is true. I was 10 or 11 when I saw STAR WARS and the cute characters never bothered me. They were funny and entertaining and still are. Jar Jar was a menace though. An absolute creative disaster. Even my 9 year old nephew hated him when he...
