I think that's what many people found disappointing about the sequel, Ring 2 - the supernatural takes over completely and really fails to capitalise on the ending of the first film. It becomes more spooky than mysterious.
Thanks for the info on Session 9. It hasn't ben heard of here in the UK yet, despite having Peter Mullan (the star of My Name Is Joe and director of Orphans) in there. The film itself sounds good though!
There is a Region 2 UK disc of Silver Bullet with a commentary track by the director Daniel Attias and the trailer. Will there be more features on the Region 1 disc?
From the reveiws I have read about the sequel and prequel to Ring, Ring 2 is said to not sustain the tension of the original, but Ring 0 is supposed to be an excellent addition to the series and well worth seeing. I haven't seen either yet, but Ring 0 came through the post a few day ago - I'll...
How about Samuel Fullers 1981 film White Dog ? I saw it in a double bill with Shock Corridor and was amazed by both of them. Now that Shock Corridor is available, any chance of White Dog (or other Samuel Fuller? I'm also looking for Park Row)
Also, I'd like to see Targets from 1968 with Boris...
BTW Re: Sebastiane. A funny story was that the film was shown on the TV here in the UK when I was about 13. I hadn't heard of the film and the content of the film wasn't listed except to say that it was in Latin with English subtitles. Now I was taking a Latin GCSE at the time and was excited...
I'd like to put in a vote for my favourite DVD's that I've seen so far.
1. Fight Club - a great film with interesting, relevant extra material. I always get excited on seeing a huge amount of material on a disc, but quality matters more than quantity.
2.Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - an...
I'd like to see some of the travel series by Michael Palin released on DVD. Also, I think that the Channel 4 series Spaced would go down well overseas. The Prime Suspect dramas with Helen Mirren would be great, as would the Cracker series with Robbie Coltrane. The recently shown Mondo Macabro...
Ring and Ring 2 directed by Hideo Nakata have been released in the UK. I haven't got Rng 2 yet but have Ring and think it is great. The disc is not region coded (the packaging says Region 0) but is in PAL format. The Ring disc contains a couple of features - a filmiography of the stars composer...
I was wondering. Is the Harry Potter phenomenon a sinister conspiracy by parents everywhere? Instead of children asking for toys and such for Christmas, will children across the world now be asking their parents if they can go to boarding school instead?!
Half Moon Street (not a great film, but I'm a Sigourney Weaver fan!), The Emerald Forest and Beyond Rangoon (perhaps a 2 film set?!), Attack!, any more Atom Egoyan to go with Felicia's Journey, The Sweet Hereafter and Exotica would be great, The Duellists, The Boston Strangler and The Andromeda...
The Lord Of The Flies or The Last Temptation Of Christ. Chosen because I'm saving up for them at the moment and that is usually always the time that a film goes out of print!
I used to always answer with 2001 before I had read the book. How about Phase IV? El Topo? Lost Highway definately. The Tetsuo films by Shinya Tsukamoto. George Romero's Martin for a 'what just happened?' moment in a shocking way! I once asked a friend and they said Mighty Morphin Power Rangers...
The Frighteners and Fiend Without A Face are hugely underrated! How about Iceman, A Midnight Clear, Cop with James Woods, Dolores Calibourne, White Dog, The Northerners, Indochine, Evil Dead II, A Man Escaped, The Hill, The Rocketeer, 'Ladybird, Ladybird', Foul Play (I would have to choose this...
