I'd say Meadow herself is aware of racial prejudices, doesn't try to deny them, but doesn't exploit them or harbor them as much as some of the others when she says "if you really want to know, it was two african american guys" not two "black guys". At any rate, yes, bravo for this episode...

Munee, one step at a time... Aaron, since you live in houston, if you want to set up a demonstration, just drop me a private message... Charlie, it'll be worth every second that you have to wait. Everybody else, thanks for the positive comments.

actually keith... it sounds great shoeboxed in there... the fit is aesthetically pleasing, but there's just enough room for the sub to breathe... I experimented with pulling the sub out a bit but it was rattling the walls way too much... keep in mind that at Reference levels, I have the gain at...
well, after 3 missed UPS delivery attempts, I finally tracked decided to camp out at UPS and not leave till I had my SVS in the back of my SUV... and now... after over a month of waiting... it's finally here... nice snug and comfy in it's new home... and OMG!!! I think my walls are going to give...
RonnieT, based on the flash demonstration, you don't really have preset scenes per say, you have to manually create them by dimming or brightening each relay in series. This is a welcome alternative though, choice is good.
Gary, they will both respond to the same IR signal... so even though each spacer switch comes with it's own remote, you will only use one, or in your case neither with the mx700... so obviously, the x10 has the advantage in terms of control and flexibility.
ok. I'm one of those people that called the x10 stuff junk, but I admit that's harsh... what i meant to say is that they are not built as well as the lutron dimmers and from personal experience the wireless control part of it is extremely slow... that is I'll push a button to turn the lights off...
thank you everyone for the nice comments so far... this project has been amazingly fun... and now it's 95% complete, just need to: clean up a few wires and connections buy these theater chairs (1 row of 3 in front, single cushion sofa in back) put up drapes and acoustic diffusion/absorption...
John Curl who designs the parasound amps is a great amp builder. Don't really need to list some of the stuff he's built, just do a google search on his name... He knows what he's doing and Parasound's goals are to build amps with less of the really expensive exotic stuff that you don't really...
wow... I can get a pair of Nautilus 805 for the cost of an entire lifestyle 28 system? or how about 4 SVS Subs... hmmm... if size were not an issue... bose lifestyle 28 = $2500 axiom audio epic 80 = $2413 swan 5.2 HT = $2559 rocket HT Package # 0 = $2449 interesting... granted these...
yeah stay away from the x10 junk... if you want to diy, then go ahead and build your own relays with IR, but time is money, so i took the easy way out and get lutron spacers... four of them to control four relays of lights... and I use my denon Atkis remote (what a piece o poop remote) to...
woohoo!!! all i need now is baseboards, chair rails, crown moldings, carpet, and acoustic treatments!!! I'm sooo excited... have a look everyone and let me know what you think so far... My Theater!!!
Just surfing through all the classifieds for used amps and I was thinking, does a good amp ever go out of style? I mean how much has amplifier design and construction changed over the years? The reason I ask is that I see some amps on the used market that had an MSRP of over 3 or 4 thousand when...
Bryan, I'm not sure what listening tests would say and while I'm no expert, I'm under the impression that passive bi-amping really does not provide that much benefit at all. The signals going into the amps are full range signals, so you are wasting a lot of work at the amplifiers so you are...
ARGH!!!! I'm still waiting for my first impression... calling once a week and it's the same story... It really is great that the support from all the loyal owners is pouring out, but after a month of waiting, I keep hoping that it's gonna be any day now... I couldn't have picked a worse time to...
Anybody here use anything besides a calibration disc and an SPL meter? For the cost of some of these measuring and calibration devices, I know I'd be much better off just hiring a professional to make my room acoustically and sonically great, but I'm just curious what the tweakers and diyers do...
I can get 1000 ft of cat 5 cable for 49.99 at fry's. I don't mind twisting and braiding if it'll make my theater cooler... hehe, it's a labor of love. and if it really does sound better, all the merrier... keep in mind, I have an 8 meter run and a 7 meter run to my front speakers... + 49.99...
Has anybody tried diy speaker cables? I need about 8 meters from my equipment rack to my front two speakers and would like to do better than 14 gauge home depot speaker cable, but can't really afford to spend 500 bux on a pair of 8 meter speaker cables... I'm taking a look at the UBYTE, FFRC...
x10 is flexible, but horribly slow. The lutron spacer decorator style dimmer switches come with an IR remote. If you want to use the MX-500, I'm sure you could have it learn the ir commands if it doesn't already come with the presets. Each spacer dimmer can be tapped once for full...
a power conditioner, a voltage stabilizer, those make sense to me, I've just been reading so much debunking of snakeoil lately that to be quite honest, i'm not so sure anymore... I wish someone would publish some good scientific peer reviewed articles on line conditions and power management...
