I have owned the Level 3 for about 2 months. Tower mains, center, sub-woofer and bookshelf surround. I am very happy with them. Excellent sound and well built. I have the red finish ones, very nice. Make sure you have enough room because they are big.
I wasnt thinking straight on this one. I went ahead and shifted all the convergence lines left about 1/2 inch to get it lined up correctly. For now I just measured and used strings to get it close. Thanks for the help.
Today I measured where the verticle centerline of the convergence grid is and found it was shifted 7-8mm to the right. The dimensions of the screen are 1261mm x 709mm so the verticle centerline should be at 630.5, but it was only 623mm from the right side.
I have tried WID and HPOS in the...
I have a noticed the following on all sources (DVD, DirectTv, VCR). When viewing a very white scene, hockey is the most obvious, I notice a very faint verticle line down the middle of the set. Thats not so bad. The bad part is that the left side of the verticle line has a noticeably darker...
Now that I have a good chunk of $ invested in a home theater, I realized I did not have a surge protector. What type is recommended? Are the $20-$30 ones good enough, I expect not. Any good places to order online?
One other nice thing about HTD. They have a 30 day home trial, if you dont like them you can send them back and HTD even picks up the shipping (except on the front or rear towers, you pay the shipping)

I received my HTD Level 3 tower system about 2 weeks ago and I think they sound fantastic. They do a very good job for both home theater and music. They are on the large size, so if space is an issue they might not be good. Particularly good if you like heavy bass. I got the cherry red, very...
I have the 57HX81. For me, I like to be about 12-13' back. Particularly when watching hockey since it has a lot of quick camera pans. Most others seem to like being closer. For 9', I'd go with the 50"

Massimo N,
I also have the same set for about a week and am very happy with it. So far I did the 9 pt convergence with the remote. As this is my 1st RPTV, I have some questions about your excellent review:
1- How did you clean up geometry issues
2 - could you provide steps on cleaning the...
Rutledge,
Yes I do blame them. All I ask for is honesty. The signs say they will price match, and they would not. If thats the case, take the signs down.
I walked into Sears today with 3 internet prices for the Toshiba 50H81. Signs on every TV say "we will price match". SO I show my lower prices and also want my 10% off (credit card). First the salesman says we will not do a price match and also the 10% off, but will give me the best of the...
My understanding is that you will not get burn-in with the grey bars. The grey bars means that area of the set is being used. Black bars are the problem. Black bars are not being used, so the area with the picture gets the burn-in effect.
Just got my Level 3 HTD's, massive and real beauties. 6 speakers. No directions for the subwoffer, the following choices on the back that I dont understand:
1 - cross over freq dial goes 40 > 80 > 120 > 180hz
2 - a black verticle switch: 0
phase...
I just got a Denon 2802 receiver and Panasonic RP91 DVD player, and HTD speakers. A Toshiba HDTV is in the works. My question - Does it matter if I use component cables to attach the DVD directly to the TV? Or am I better off buying a 2nd set to go DVD > receiver > TV? Of course for the DVD...
Trey,
I am also on the verge of buying the 57HX81 or 57h81 or 50 H81. I am unsure if I want the 57" or not. Did you do a comparison of the H and HX? Did you notice any difference in the picture quality?
One of my big concerns is hoe it will look on DirecTv with sports. How much...

At first I thought I was going to buy a sony hs30, but I have seen so many good comments on this toshiba's I'm having secon thoughts. How good did the 4x3 stuff look? How bad was the stretching
Matty,
So you have the Tosh 61H71? Can you confirm the squeeze to 16x9 for DVD's? Were there features other than price that made you purchase instead of the Sony?
Thanks
I think I have decided that a 4x3 RPTV is best for me right now since my kids watch a lot of 4x3 and > 50% of my viewing will be 4x3, especially sports. I have seen the Sony's quite a few times and think it has a very nice picture. I don't know much about the Toshiba's but specs say:
New...
The HTD level 3 package comes with a sub woofer. I also went to Sears today to take another look at TV's. They had more on display then before. Seems like there are a lot more Sony's in the 36"-43" range that are also HDTV ready. For example, the 36FVHS30. Whew, its hard to know which way...
TV - Sony 53HS30
Receiver - Denon 2802
Speakers - HTD Level 3 tower
DVD - not decided yet - Do you think I need progressive scan?
I am preety new to this but after a bunch of research, here are my current choices. Any comments good or bad would be appreciated.
Thanks, Doug
