My guess is it's a Motorola box (5100/6200/6208). The latest firmware 7.10 has a bug regarding HDCP handshake and the DVI output. The temporary fix is to turn the TV on before the cable box, and turn the cable box off before the TV. The Moto box does not have discrete codes, so this will play...
The above-quoted poster at the Spot gave an update tonight. He had his set repaired per those instructions, and the white line is gone. He even included a couple of pictures. You can read the post here . He also mentioned the terminology to use when talking to a tech is "center drive line".
Very interesting, John. I'm still trying to get Toshiba to give the information to my service center. You wouldn't want to share what you've heard, would you? ;)
Here's a copy-and-paste from the Spot on 5/18: "OK, so my Dad, who is a Toshiba authorized warranty technician as stated above, just got off the phone with Toshiba about my 65HX83 with the center white line issue. The Toshiba rep knew exactly what the problem was and described the following...
Evidently, HPOS has disappeared from the service menu in the current sets. This guy went through over a thousand addresses in the ADDR menu and finally found it (you'll need a One-for-all remote). His page refers to the xxH83s, but I think it applies to all 2003 models. He started a thread at...
If you're using the latest version of DVDProfiler (v2.2), you don't need the Catnip software. When you get to the add DVD screen, click on Plugins -> Barcode Scanner -> Scan. Works like a charm. :emoji_thumbsup:
I've made two flexy media racks, and the second one turned out really nice. 6' long 5/8" threaded rods with 5/8" MDF shelves. I used a 5/16" roundover bit on each side of the shelves to make a bullnose on the front and sides. The bottom has three pieces glued together for stability and two...
I finally got around to watching this last night and thought it was great - one of the better movies I've seen this year. Did anyone else think when the soldiers ate the eggs, they were from infected chickens?
I thought the "happy ending" was uncharacteristic also. To me, the perfect ending...
DT is my favorite band and on my third listening so far, the new CD is growing on me. I didn't really like 6DOIT at first, either, but now it's one of my favorites (Awake is still #1). At first all I heard were the Metallica and Black Sabbath influences, and of course, the technical virtuosity...
Chris, Now that you mention it, I think it was a bit more convoluted than I remember. I think I exported the xml file, found a xml to csv converter, and went from there. I'll have to look when I get home, but I can PM you with the URL for the converter. Sorry to have mislead you, it's been a...
Guzzlefish doesn't - that's why I find DVDProfiler indispensable. In fact, that's how I input my DVDs into GF - exported a csv from DP with UPCs and pasted blocks 100 at a time into GF's search bar. I wouldn't use Guzzlefish as my only database, but it is neat to know Jackie Chan is my most...
I use both DVDProfiler and Guzzlefish, although I refer to Profiler more. Guzzlefish is great for finding the most represented actor, director, etc. in your collection, as well as which DVDs are out of print. DVDProfiler has a discount report, which shows you total MSRP and total $ paid - at...
I did a Deja (sorry - google groups) search, and it's all over Usenet right now. One of the MVPs in a MS group wrote they're aware of the bug. I checked Windows update, and nothing yet - but that would be waaay too efficient ;)
Shoaib, I noticed the same thing on my IBM Thinkpad at work today. I did use Windows update on all the work computers last night, and IE is the only app I notice the increased scrolling. Have you updated Windows lately?
I'll post a caveat on the Zenith tool. I bought the same kit from Lowe's, and the tool completely stripped out on my third connector. The compression connectors are nice, though.
IMHO, analog channels look terrible through the component output. I ran a s-video cable from the 5100 as well, and use that for all but the HD channels. Pic quality still isn't great, but much more acceptable.
I took advantage of the same sale back in June - you can't beat the price :D The screen is very reflective. Regular cable varies from acceptable to atrocious, but DVDs and HD are incredible. Change to movie mode to disable SVM and lower the contrast down until you can do an Avia/DVE/S&V...
I'm an estimator for a small construction company, and one of my jobs is to maintain the network, etc. One Monday morning someone asked "why can't I send e-mail?" After wiping the egg off my face, I renewed our domain for 5 years. :b
