NHT's - no brainer if you do plan on adding a sub at some point. Much more musical than the polks in my opinion. Not to say the polks are bad. They will have more bass, however they won't be as accurate. I've got some upper end NHT's (st-4's, sb 2 rears and sc 2 center) great set-up.
Thanks. Yeah, I was going to wait on the new Sony LCD 42 that is coming. However I talked with the local high-end store yesterday. While the guy I work with owns a LCD Sony (the 50) and I love the picture he did mention that pixels do go out. Said, if you look close you will find one on...
After weighing the pros and cons out there, it seems as though the samsung DLP's make good sense. Long life, no burn in, good picture, "reasonable price" light, easy to move etc. I'm looking for reasons not to buy, or for those who have made the purchase, any regrets or is it all good...
That's a great link. Thank you. Phillips has a Lcos 44 coming soon, sounds like that also might be worth the wait. Any real thoughts out there on the samsung 42 dlp, vs the upcoming sony 42 LCD rear projection? I know the TV isn't out yet, so that is tough, but just wondering.
Thanks. I'm starting to get it. The DVI thing makes more sense now. sounds a bit like a copyright thing. so, here are a few other questions. I understand blacks are important (I assume mainly for other colors?) And in most stores they all have the TV's cranked up anyways with tons of...
Well, I've been VERY pleased with my recent purchase of NHT ST-4's as my mains. They retail for 1K for the pair, but call Kief's AV in Lawrence Kansas and they are authorized and offer great prices. I paired them with SB 2's for rears and the new sc2 center. VERY nice. Great for Audio and...
That starts to help. No, always been good on 4:3 vs 16:9, that's a no brainer. Part of my confusion was the 720/1080 thing. That starts to help. I guess I meant rear projection, and "tube" tv. With a tradtional tube tv having a limitation thus far of 40 (sony) and weight. So DVI...
Decided to get a new TV for the first time in about 5 years. I have a nice panasonic 32 superflat (not really flat...) non-digital HDTV. I'm considering everything right now, but it seems there are many different technolgies to look at. I'm confused on everything past about 16:9 vs 4:3...
Torn on a new TV right now... but this is the one I'm waiting for more information on, specifically expected price. Torn between a 34 inch widescreen Panasonic Tube TV, and mitubishi's 42 RPTV. But, I love the Sony LCDs. So, kind of wondering how pricing is expected and what the downsides to...
Well, I managed to talk the wife into allowing me to get floorstanders again, and the NHT ST-4's are the winners. They are not that tipsy (big objection with the little ones starting to crawl) and I've always liked the NHT sound. Doing ST-4's up front, with the SC-1 center. Still...
Bob,
Thanks, huge help I think. I have video essentials and will be going through it this week. I guess the one question it leads me to is - is the s-video cord more apt to pick up interference than a standard video out cord (you know, just a basic radio shack gold series) because it's clean...
Ok,
Recently bought a new Pioneer Elite Reciever VSX36... whatever the elite designation is. Anyways here is my problem. When using the monitor out s-video cord connection the "blue screen" isn't solid blue. It is blue but almost looks pixelated, that is you can see the squares throughout...
