I now live in Canada, but growing up in the UK this was one of my favourite films from childhood. BBC 1 used to air it alot during the 80's and I loved it. However, I had no idea that Sam Jones voice was dubbed, this is some very fascinating news. Why was it dubbed?
Scott, you are definitely not nuts. Jeff Bridges is often overlooked and I agree that he is one of the finest actors America has ever produced. His performances are always good despite the film.
I just saw the trailer for this movie and it's definitely creepy. But as the trailer goes on I feel that it could either be a good film or the usual run-of-the-mill horror flick. I'm hoping it's a good one because Michael Keaton deserves a comeback. He is a very versatile actor and it amazes me...
Thanks Steve. I just searched "Northstar" on Imdb and found it. I feel like a complete idiot, lol. That was the quickest response I've ever gotten and it's appreciated.
It might have been a tv movie and don't remember. I saw it as a kid during the 1980's whilst growing up in the UK. An astronaut while in space gets blasted by a ray/laser in the face. I think the laser was emitted from a star. He then returns to earth and I think he might have super-powers (but...
I would love to see a sequel to Grosse Pointe Blank. I know that John Cusack has talked about making a sequel but I think it's about time he actually got around to doing it. :)
My friends in the UK tell me that this is one of the best zombie films of all-time and I personally cannot wait to see it. Does anybody know when the tentative US release date is? I love this forum because whenever I have needed a question answered someone has always answered it.
Deliverance is one of the most disturbing movies I have ever seen. I didn't catch till last year and I had heard about the classic for years and vaguely knew what it was about. But nothing prepared me for the "Squeal like a pig" scene, although it was made in 1972 that scene would shock...
ET has been mentioned a lot in this thread but it is one of the films that brings a tear to my eye, no matter how many times I've seen it. The scene in wich ET is being resuscitated does it for me. It's the sheer brilliance of Spielberg's directing/storytelling and Henry Thomas acting that pulls...
Personally I think Nic Cage should have been awarded with an Oscar nomination for his work in Matchstick Men. I think Cage was absolutely terrific in that film and was back to his best. He hasn't made the greatest of career choices over the last 5 years but his work in MM was a breath of fresh...
I think Rhona Mitra would be a good choice. I think she looks the part and standing at 5'8'' she definitely has the figure. She hasn't had much acting experience, but from what I have seen of her she is capable of being WW. http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/5198/fhm15.jpg[/IMG]
I'd like to watch this film again, however, it might not hold up considering I was very young when I first saw it. Was this ever released on vhs? I would love to see the original mini-series but doubt I'll ever get a chance too, unless it's shown on tv here in Canada. Unfortunately I don't have...
This movie has bugged me for years, I saw it around 14 years ago. I think it was a low budget sci-fi movie and the plot involved a beautiful female Alien who teamed up with a cop to track down a evil monstrous Alien. I think the "evil" Alien could change form. The female Alien and the cop...
I am the type of guy who likes the sharp crisp image, however, in some movies the grain and not so sharp image add to the film. For example, Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one disturbing film and I think the grain really adds to that film. However, take a look at this...
So far you guys are making me lean towards the 25th Anniversary edition. I want to buy this disc tomorrow and will see if I can find it. I agree that the John Carpenter commentary would be an added bonus. The extras on the disc would be great too, however, The blue-ish, red-ish tint are fairly...
Thanks guys, however, it doesn't improve my situation any, lol. Arnie, you say that you like the Divimax version better and my friend tells me that the Anchor Bay edition is better. I guess I'll just have to buy one or the other. You say that you own both editions and I've read that the blue...
I want to buy a copy of John Carpenter's Halloween on Dvd but I'm surprised that there are 2-3 copies out there. I want to buy the Limited edition (one with both the theatrical and tv cuts) but I think that will be a little hard to find :frowning:. So, which version should I buy? the 25th...
Does anyone know when this movie will be released on DVD or if it ever will? I haven't seen it in over a decade and I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba and I can't find it anywhere. I have looked for it in Rogers Video and Blockbuster video stores and cannot find it anywhere on either format.
Thanks
I live in Winnipeg, Canada and I'm hugely dissapointed that the Goonies DVD was not released here last week. I was in the States last week and the DVD was available in every retail outlet and unfortunately I didn't pick it up while I was there. Does anyone know whether the Goonies will be...
