My brother will be going to Germany in a few days and i was wondering if there were any dvds
on sale there (with an English language audio track) that are not available in America or England,
or maybe ones with additional features like the DTS Sleepy Hollow?
I`ve read in a magazine that Tim Burton is never going to do a commentary again, because he thinks he is no good at them. Is this true? If so, then thats very sad as i was looking forward to a possible "Batman Returns" one. I thought his "Sleepy Hollow" one was quite good in an "informal chat"...
One thing i noticed on the Trimark dvd is when Mickey is shooting the guards and tv crew in the interview room the picture, for a frame, jumps to fullscreen instead of non-anamorphic widescreen. Strange!
I have been thinking of trying to make the anamorphic squeeze automatic, but i am not quite sure how to do the switching part. I know that pin 8 of the scart lead controls what ratio the dvd picture is in (6 volts for 16:9 or 12 volts for 4:3), so i was thinking that i could use a relay to...
I have this superb film on VHS in a 16:9 aspect ratio (taped from Channel 4). Am i right in thinking that the correct OAR is 2.35:1? I can`t wait to see the colour and detail of those wonderful, atmospheric sets brought to life on DVD.
Jeff, i checked out the link. I didn`t realise it was such a popular film. My brother and i are always quoting lines from it eg "Theeeres a doooor behiiind it".
Jon, where did you get your copy from? I`ve got mine on order from Play 24/7, but they seem to have a bit of a problem with supplying limited edition dvds, like Akira, so i`m a bit worried that i might miss out on it.
A similar thing happens on the Nightmare Before Christmas commentary. About 4 minutes from the end they just stop talking, no goodbyes, no "thank you for watching"`s, nothing.
Does anybody know whether The Fearless Vampire Killers (AKA Dance of the Vampires) has ever been released or will be released on DVD? This is one of my favourite films and it would be great if Roman Polanski did a commentary on it as he did say that it was the film he most enjoyed working on.
