Thanks for your replies, I'll check this out tonight. I only have a component connection to my Sony projector, there is no audio connections beyond the AVR. But the AVR is more complicated than I'm used to, so I'll check around and see what I can change regarding HDMI out.
I'm sure I have a setting wrong, I have a HDMI connection from a Panasonic DMP-BD35 to a Denon AVR-3808CI. Both can decode Dolby Digital TrueHD and DTS-HD Master audio formats. The problem I'm having is that when I select these formats on the disc the receiver just outputs Dolby Digital or DTS...
I just upgraded my receiver to the Denon 3808CI to take advantage of lossless audio. I have an older projector that doesn't have a HDMI input. So I was wondering is it possible to run the video through the receiver using component video cables and still get sound out of a HDMI connection to the...
High Tension (2003) - :star: :star: :star: A good old fashion gore fest the likes I haven't seen in years. What really impressed me was the movie took the time to create a suspenseful atmosphere that really had me on the edge of my seat through most of the show. I really enjoyed this movie...
The Cave (2005) - BOMB Dull, boring movie about some cave explorers that are being hunted by giant demon bats. Worst movie I've seen all year. The Skeleton Key (2005) - :star: :star: Decent movie starring Kate Hudson and Peter Sarsgaard. It follows a nurse who's hired to take care of an...
The People Under The Stairs :star: :star:1/2 A classic Wes Craven film about a deranged couple who build a house that once you're in it, it becomes inescapable. The basement is where they keep everybody who's trapped in the house. The movie was a lot of fun, had some great lines, also has a...
Last night I watched Asylum of the Damned. A weak story about the doctors running a mental institution forming a cult. This cult summons "The Harvester" which is a demon that takes people's souls to hell. Don't know which was worse the story or the amateur acting, anyway... 1. Texas Chainsaw...
It was a slow weekend but I did get in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003). I'm probably in the minority, but I like the remake over the original. I watched the 1974 version last year and just couldn't wait for it to end. Also in the remake I get to watch Jessica Biel which makes me :) The...
In years past I've watched this thread and participated without participating. So this year I'm going to try and contribute to this thread. I'm a big horror fan and I have a couple friends who get way into them this time of year so 13 movies should be doable.
I want to install speakers in another part of my house. What is a semi cheap way to setup a multizone audio system. I'm looking to spend $500-$1000 not including speakers. I'm just not sure the best way to go about setting something like this up. Any ideas and suggestions are appreciated.
Hey - I was wondering if someone could tell me how to set up a modem to receive calls. I'm running Windows NT 4.0 with an external modem. I have the modem set to Auto Answer and I can see it light up when the phone rings. But it just continually rings and doesn't answer. Any help is appreciated.
I'm looking at the SP5000 from In Focus. What are your opinions of this projector? It has HD capability and is under $2000. Is it any good? Are there other projectors that I should look at that would be comparable?
Hello all wise forum, I need your advice once again. I have a Sony VPL-VW10HT projector. I'm wondering what screen would ya'll recommend. I'm looking to spend around $1,000. I need it to be retractable. Is an electric worth the extra money over a manual pull-down? Right now I'm looking at the...
Thank you for the information. I wasn't sure that they made sound cards with digital out for laptops. I will be buying a new one, and I'm very excited about the possibilites this will open up for my theater. Are there other things I need to consider other than audio and video output quality...
Oh man, I'd forgotten about Raising Arizona. That's a great flick. I'm going to have to have a couple get togethers. Y'all know some truly trashy gems :D
Yea Paul, I'm a big poster. But I don't know what I'd do without the forum. I'd probably be a wealthy man.:) My system is mainly used for movies. So, I'll check out the Denons.
Thanks.
Right now I have a low end Sony receiver, but I'm planning on updating my receiver soon. I don't know a lot about this aspect of HT, was wondering what brands to look at. I'm using Klipsch Reference series speakers. My budget would be between $500 and $800.
I'm having a problem with this program, and was wondering if anyone has seen this, or has ideas to try. My friend downloaded IE6 onto his laptop, and every time a page loads it freezes for 30 seconds. He's running a Windows 2000 workstation, after the problem he tried to reload the Windows...
