    ***Gay-Friendly DVD's, Version 5***

I see at DVDFile.com that Buena Vista is releasing "Lie Down with Dogs" in June. This, as I remember, was a delightful piece of fluff set in Provincetown. Looking forward to seeing it on DVD.

"This is the Army" release on Delta - any information?

I am anxious to hear info on this title. The last Delta title I viewed "Santa Fe Trail" was missing tracks and timings. I hate that ... never know where I am in the movie if I have to stop it for a minute. Also, the quality was poor. Other Delta titles have had the Delta logo in the lower right...

    ***Gay-Friendly DVD's, Version 5***

Off the DVD subject for a minute. I am in the middle of reading "Behind the Screen" how gays and lesbians influenced Hollywood from 1910 to 1969. I am finding the book very interesting. Less of an expose but more of an indepth look at how pervasive homosexuality was in Hollywood.

Fox Classic DVD Releases for February?

I will not be replacing the original release DVD's with re-release DVD's no matter what else is on them until I have watched the several hundred DVD's that I now own and have not been viewed. At the rate of over 50 per month, I will catch up by May 2003. However, factoring in new purchases...

DVD Software Sales Exploding (Take Cover!)

It is interesting to see the sales results listed each week in Entertainment Weekly. Almost always, the Widescreen version outsells the Full Screen version. They have to know this.

Fox Classic DVD Releases for February?

So far, all of the Fox releases have been RE-releases. I bought all of them the first time around. I guess, at this rate, I will never get my copy of Sunrise.

Even if you ignore Clifton Webb (which would be a crime), you cannot ignore LAURA. Too bad!

Broadway Theatre Archive titles - recommendations wanted

A MUST buy is "The Skin of Our Teeth". This was done by the Globe Theatre in San Diego and features a stellar cast including Blair Brown, Harold Gould, Sada Thompson and Rue McClanahan. I have many of these titles. All are from Kultur and they seem to be committed to preserving and releasing...

    "Hit and Runway" DVD?

DVDPlanet.com shows it as "low stock" for $22.46. This is where I bought my copy.

    MGM - What Happened???

Received my October 15th order today. Exodus, The Hoodlum Priest, How to Murder Your Wife, The Russians are Coming, The World of Henry Orient. Only The Russians are Coming and The World of Henry Orient are Anamorphic. How to Murder Your Wife, The Hoodlum Priest and especially Exodus are not...

Sunrise Letter Campaign: Possibly save YOU up to $40.

This is okay by me. I will gladly buy three Fox movies ... as long as they are new releases and not re-releases of DVD's that I already own. I do own ALL of the Fox classics that have so far made it to DVD.

Anyone else finding extras less important?

Interesting you bring this up. I was just thinking about this yesterday when I sat through the entire commentary for "Love Story". I had watched the short retrospective prior to this and found that the commentary just rehashed what Arthur Hiller said in the short. I was waiting for him to say...

I can't believe it. This is a very funny movie. A real classic. One that I never thought I would see on DVD.

    FOX: Special offer for SUNRISE?

I still don't understand. I already own the DVD's of All About Eve, How Green is My Valley and Gentlemen's Agreement. I bought them several years ago. Do I have to buy them again? This is not fair!!!!

    FOX: Special offer for SUNRISE?

One Problem! I have already purchased the Movie Classics. I bought them when the first came out and at the higher price. Do I have to buy them again? That is certainly not fair to a dedicated buyer ... one who has bought ALL of the classic films ever announced.

    FOX: Special offer for SUNRISE?

DVD File reports that SUNRISE is being released in January, but only by special offer. This seems an unusual marketing strategy. How does one receive the "special offer"?

WOW! Sweet Bird of Youth. Thanks Artisian

This is a title that I really never expected to see. What other gems does Artisian have licensed. Let's keep the transfer OAR.

    BRIDESHEAD REVISITED problems

If you think it is at the layer change, I will check it out for you. (1) Which disc is it on? (2) Which chapter and what is the exact (as close as possible) time? Since my DVD player displays "SEARCH" at layer changes, perhaps I can help you out.

    BRIDESHEAD REVISITED problems

Usually when this happens, and it happens to me frequently, I have gotten my fingerprints on the DVD. Check it out, wipe off the fingerprints and try it again. My copy of Brideshead Revisited is fine.

You can add the Merchant/Ivory production of "Maurice" to that list along with "Oh! What a Lovely War".

    Warner/MGM/Columbia/Fox: Films of John Garfield

Oh, yes. Especially The Postman Always Rings Twice. John Garfield is just another example of a super star from yesterday that has fallen through the cracks. Most youngsters in today's studios will say, "Who is John Garfield?"

Movies I'm looking for not yet on DVDs

For every list that comes out, there are hundreds more that can be added. There are great titles stuck in the vaults, that may or may not slowly see the light of the laser. They can't all be released at once either, (1) it would bankrupt the collectors and (2) we would want the studios to take a...

Plea to the Studios: No more tape, glue, or stickers

Regarding security stickers. Yes, we all know that they are important. However, what percentage of your sales go to on-line outlets? Perhaps you could skip the security stickers for the on-line folks and leave them on for the brick and mortar retailers.
