Hi Vince, I will admit I was speaking more of movie soundtracks than 2-channel stereo audio CD music recordings. Most film scores end up on a Tascam DA-88 tape at a later stage in their life (think of this is a mini ADAT that uses 8mm tapes instead of svhs media) Interface of choice is ADAT.
I...
Well, DLP can't do blacks, and LCDs can't do whites or colours :)
Please note, I'm a CRT nut. They're heavy and unruly and hot and smelly and a PAIN to setup, and you have to baby them, and you need a totally dark room.
But nothing else even compares.
(that said, go with a good DLP, they...
I've actually met Bob Carver (cool dude, major audio nut and gearhead :)
And from his descriptions, the sunfire (and Lightstar) series is essentially a class D *power supply* that always opperates with 6v headroom over what the amplifier's desired output is.
The actual amplification stage...
> "[is] Audio/Video Most Important for HT?"
Yes.
Best!

If you *block* access to the breaker box, you're almost certin to violate a whole slew of building codes and local laws...
Can you possibly flip the entire HT 180-degrees? (ie, put the rear channels where you want to put the TV, build the 'wall' on the other side too?)
Circuit brakers are...
Hi There, I like to at least seperate audio, video, and power amplifier circuits (with a reciver, you combine analouge audio and power amp, but you can still run DVD players, etc off a third circuit to help reduce their noise some.)
If you can, I'd recomend minimum of three 20A circuits...
Ah, I meant to add "begin silly question" tags to my post, but it didn't work (html filtering here? Anyway, if it's for a sub, it all makes sense now.
Though I still think a combination of 3/4" MDF, 1/8" lead, and 3/4" MDF (repeat optional, and rather heavy) is very hard to beat. Or make...
Hi Grant!!
I'm actually in buisness for myself as a visual effects artist. Haven't done anything really impressive yet (mostly television and some Music Video work, my goal is to work on feature film. no I didn't work on 5th element I end up doing a fair bit of audio work as well, pics in...
Consider pulling optical fiber as well (you can get 1,000' spools pretty cheap. Link Removed

Why not laminate MDF instead? MDF is inherantly uniform all across, and has far better damping charisterics than any plywood. Not just in speakers, but in general acoustic construction; I find it to be very useful.

Hi Grant, I consider myself an "a/v phile" for sure, I actually make my living from it :)
I've never been less than happy with toslink as a digital signal trasnfer medium, sounds the same as coax or AT&T ST optical to me.
There really is no reason that digital signal transmission should...
Cutting out an additional DA/AD cycle always helps things :)
Here's another quickie; you can connect your computer's audio output to your reciver the same way, via coaxial or optical SPDIF digital. (you will need a Sound Blaster Live or similar soundcard or a computer that comes with digital...
Scaler/doubler/quads that are "anamorphic aware" are great for this, the extra resolution as mentioned is really appricated at ~120"+ screen sizes.
The older projectors (like my ampro infact) though they have multiple memories, their accessing and switching is less than intuitive. a Scaler...
Hi Gary, you can just fix the black fabric directly to the celing at, oh, say 18" or so intervals using thumb, or better yet, 'furniture' tacks, available at the fabric store you buy the fabric from.
Light pollution is your porjector's enemy, see my pics below (plenty of pollution, light...
Hi There, the sand fill route is the best way, dense insulation if that is not an option.
Two sheets of 3/4" MDF will make for an utterly unshakable, utterly damped floor. Do screw and glue all connections.
Lastly, you might consider "floating" the floor on the subfloor of your house proper...
I Love RopeLite, it's so versitle!!
You do need to watch yourself WRT temprature, enough of it can dissapate quite a bit of heat (5w every 18", but it can add up, and even scorch the tubing's clear plastic.)
Avoid running doubled-up legenths, and avoid totally enclosing the ropelite. Also...
The theroetical bandwidth for TOSlink (and ADAT) Physical interfaces is rather high, despite two limiting factors.
Firstly, the fibre is wide, this leads to rapid "time smear" as in a curved cable, the inside 'track' is actually marginally shorter than teh outside. a square wave coming in will...
