You are correct. 6.1 Surround is Denons way of saying DD-EX. They released the receiver before the DD-EX name could be used. DD-EX was named THX-EX and they would have needed THX certification to sell the product with that display. In the end, 6.1 Surround is the exact same thing as DD-EX.
You will love the VP150! I upgraded from a VP100 to the 150 and it is a night and day difference in sound. The VP150 just wraps you in sound, whereas the VP100 was just not as impressive. I have a relatively small living room, (1 bedroom apartment) and the VP150 and QS8s I have fill the room...
I just wanted to be the first on the current tour to write a short review of the work done by Gregg Loewen. As a note I'm sure I'll miss things along the way, or put things in the wrong order, but that is my error, Gregg did everything in the correct order and in a timely manner. To say the...
The only time you have bars on the top and bottom of a movie is when it is 2.35:1. On a regular (square) tv these movies have thicker bars on the top and bottom. Many movies are 16:9 which on a 16:9 widescreen tv will not have any bars on the top and bottom. So, it all depends on what movie you...
I do want the option to go with Satellite if need be down the road. Also, most importantly, I'm interested in a ATSC and NTSC tuner that upconverts to 1080i. Simplicity is the key. I don't want to fumble between inputs when changing channels.
The most important question that I'm looking for...
Well, I'm coming down to selecting the Zenith DTV1080 STB. I do have a couple questions before I bite the bullet and spend $750.
1) Do you need to sign up with DirectTv? I'm only interested in OTA HDTV signals and possibly cable. No access to sky.
2) Does the Zenith allow you to change...
I'm in the same boat. I'll be moving to Boston shortly and will probably not have access to the sky. At least not in a way to point a satellite dish. Do you have to receive a satellite signal inorder to run a stb with a built in DirectTv decoder???
I used the User1 setting to change the output of the 70bk player and haven't changed the settings for the tv. My avia based settings using my old sony dvd player made cable look great so I kept those settings. I would lower everything in the User setting so that it is neutral (Brightness...
Thanks all for your input. The interlaced thing was just the curiosity factor. Figured I should try it out eventhough I would only use it in progressive mode. I'm a teaker (overclocked my computer 50%, etc). I have returned the 70bk because of the grinding noise. Should get a new one by monday...
I just purchased the JVC SA70BK progressive dvd player (same innards as sa60/65, 75, 90/95). I seem to have a problem and I'm just wondering if this is normal.
When I switch from progressive to interlaced mode via the remote the image becomes incredibly dark. The progressive image is...
Just as a word of warning... The Panny RP-56 can only access 150 MP3s encoded on a disk. Also, the JVC 60/65GD family of players can only access 100 MP3s. I just found this out yesterday while I was a work trying to answer a persons problems accessing his 252 MP3s. Then again, I have no idea why...
