I am really happy with my HTR-5760 ... for the price I paid for it ... it really has the best bang for the buck ! Your ROI on pricier receivers is going to be very low indeed. I see quite a few folks trying to get rid of their RX-V2300 receivers on Ebay ... imagine having to eat all that...

Fernando - thats the problem with the Yamaha Rcvrs ... it will not select DPLIIx when it detects the dd5.1 or dts stream ... you need to manually set it to dd5.1+DPLIIx mode. This has been discussed in one of threads I started a few days ago. Max
I liked Identity because I like movies that are obtuse ... kinda like "Run Lola Run" or "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" ... if you like movies that shock you to look at things from a very different angle ... then its highly recommended. The sound of rain and thunder totally envelopes you...
Having got my Yamaha HTR-5760 in my system for a week ... I was curious to explore the hype behind DLPIIx. I have a 7.1 setup. Last night we watched ... IDENTITY (2003) This is a Dolby Digital 5.1 disc. Absolutely stunning ... never before have I experienced this much discrete...
Hi Scott : I am not so sure that will work all the time. I just tried what you said. It does switch to PLIIx (on a 2ch stereo PCM signal) ... but when I switch to a DD5.1 channel ... it changes to DD5.1 STANDARD decoding :frowning: This is NUTS on the part of Y. I think they used an existing...
Hi You do have to manually set pro-LogicIIx the first time then every time you go to that input it will revert back to pro-LogicIIx even when power is turned off & on. When you switch back to DD5.1 channel on that input and want to use Pro-LogicIIx you will manually have to set pro-LogicIIx...

Thanks Wayne. I corrected the phase problem. It was indeed in the external crossover that runs the Maggies. Problem is now corrected. But I still don't care for the level settings done by the YPAO ... it tries to equalize my fronts to the rears instead of the other way round. ie. FR +3.0dB...
Hi Wayne: I will run it again. Although, I am worried ... I made some changes to levels etc. (using an SPL meter) ... and want to know if running the Auto again will undo all this. I know that it allows you to Cancel saving the settings ... but not sure if by then its already undone my manual...
I have a real problem with the way Y designed the 5760 to operate. I have posted a new thread on this ... http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...87#post2176583
I just bought a HTR-5760. Its got the same brains as most of their series RX-V1400, RX-V2400, HTR-5790 etc. I bought this receiver for its Dolby Pro-Logic IIx capability. I have a 7.1 setup and IIx was important to me. Here is the problem I have ... On my old Denon 2802, I could...
I received mine last night from Etail. Paid $360 including shipping. It replaces my Denon 2802 receiver. So far I am very happy. The YPAO is kinda flaky. It said my FR spkr was out of phase. Which it clearly was not. So I ended up resorting to manual mode. I do have a couple of...
I bought the 5960 (for $350). Since I will be using it as a preamp (replaces denon 2802) ... I don't care about the THX rating etc. or lack thereof. Also, I typically buy electronics at bargain prices and sell them in about 1-1.5 years .. and get most of my investment back. So I don't care...
Thanks Wayne - I just placed the order and got a break on the shipping :) Now, after placing the order I did notice that the RX-V1400 has YSS-930 x 2 (32 BIT) DSP processors ... thats two processors ... but the 5760 and 5790 have only 1 (as per their website). Not sure if that matters to...
The AVR-2802 has preouts for both SBL and SBR. I know that upgrade from II to IIx involves upgrading the firmware. Any chance of Denon offering any such upgrade ? Max
Whats the best price on the HTR-5760 ? Also, whats the RX-V650 receiver ? It too does IIx. I am kinda confused with this parallel offering from Yamaha ... HTR and RX-V stuff. Can someone help me out ? From Yamaha Site (two sets of receivers)...
I agree with MuneebM. I was not asking for opinions on any specific receiver - rather wanted to find out the best price out there for the RX-V2400. Thanks MuneebM for pointing this out.
As I understand PLIIx is of not much use in DD-EX or DTS-ES ... since the SurroundBack channels already have a predetermined role. The main advantage (based on what I have read) ... is that IIx ... gives you full-range stereo sound from the surround back speakers when listening to two-channel...
I have four speakers for the rear (SL, SR, SBL, SBR). At present I play most DD 5.1 stuff in 6.1 mode .. where the Surround Backs take a matrix signal from the SL and SR speakers. Since its 6.1 ... and not 7.1 ... the two surround back speakers emit MONO sound. I know that in IIx .. the...
Hmm .. I asked for the Yamaha .. and one of you sent me over to a HK product link ... FWIW ... I need ProLogic IIx and I need the parametric equalization ... which the HK does not have ! For a very objective review of the Yamaha RX-V2400 go here
