I know my TV supports the DVI connection protect, not a problem. I just want to make sure I am going to get a better picture because my current DVD player was a $1000 player in its day. So I am trading the overall quality of the hardware for a lesser player, with possibly a better picture.

Ya...I tried all connections and checked all menus. All good. I just went out and bought a signal amplifier to try that. I hope this works.

Thanks for the feedback...I really appreciate it. I have heard that you get a bit better picture from integrated HDTV vs. stand alone box. Have you heard such a thing? I will look into the differences with the 2 sets and make the best choice. Thanks! -Jon

I just found out that Samsung plans on releasing a HLN619W that has an integrated HDTV converter. It is supposed to be out sometime in Q3 or Q4 this year. I really wanted the HLN617W and was in the process of making the best deal, but now with this new information...I guess I should wait for...

THANKS. That link worked. I made the suggested change and it corrected the problem. Do you suggest that I do the other XBR service menu tweeks that are listed there? Apparently that make a perfect picture. Let me know if you know of these as well. Thanks

I remember seeing over a year ago the service menu fix for the Wega color band problem on the 1st generation Wega. I ended up returning the DVD player and never had the problem again. Well I recently got a new DVD player and the problem has re-surfaced. I now wish to go in and correct that...
