Man, it is great to have this on DVD! The surround sound is pretty darned good for something that was destined for television… not a whole lot of it, but what there is is effective. The transfer is superb (as compared with watching it on our local Time/Warner Cable). All, in all...
Absolutely right, Ross.
It took less than a minute to put it on, so I'm not really griping about the work involved. It's just that there's so much shiny glare… it's almost like looking at myself in a mirror (being follically challenged, that is. Lots of shiny glare coming off of my forehead :b )
I removed the "glare screen" from my Mits 55907 several months ago, and have never been happier with the overal look.
However, this Friday, we're hosting a football party at The Mooseplex (to watch The Huskers whup The Buffs). There'll be some small fry amongst the guests, and I just didn't...
Tom D, thanks for listening. The music that I've written is for folks our age that enjoy the "classic rock" sound, but are sick to death of the Boston-Heart-Skynard-Boston-Foreigner-Kansas-Boston-Boston-Boston playlists of radio stations nowadays.
Hmmmmm… I seem to have clicked into rant mode...
Heck, I think I have the top two added together beat for longevity. Uhm, let's see… I started playing when I was 11, and I'm 48 now, so that means… wait, don't yell out the answer, I can do the math… 37 years.
Absolutley get a metronome. I've had students that couldn't keep time to save their...
Pull Me Under got some radio play around here, and it really got me started on DT.

I''ve just revamped the front end to the website, making the interface look more like a remote control. It's pretty neat, I think.
There are separate sections now for "audio", "video", "virtual tour", "record", and "play". The audio and video go into a bit more detail on my choices, and also...
Hi, Shane-
I don't have the 777, but I do have the 787. Just as a side note, I think that the salesperson was misinformed about needing identical inputs. Sounds like a quick training job to me.
In any event, S video as you may or may not know, consists of a luminance (black and white) and a...
Here's what I've found from my experience:
1. Good video cable - very important
2. Good audio cable- not quite as important
3. Good speaker cable- least important
Having said that, I did opt for the best Monster cables available for video and audio. I also used Monster speaker wire since we...
I have a Mits 55907 running on a T/W cable system. The system has been upgraded so that digital cable is available, but I'm not using it. (Road Runner, of course, is a different matter. They'll have to pry it from my cold stiff dead fingers!)
It really depends on the channel, but most of it...
We noticed that Kevin's accent came and went depending on the scene. Or rather, it intensified at some points. It seemed pretty silly.
Overall, the movie really held our attention.
Remember that all electronic equipment has an "average" lifespan- usually expressed as MTBF, or Mean Time Between Failure. By leaving your receiver on, you're essentially coming closer to that "average" mark all of the time.
My RP91 is sitting on its own shelf in my custom cabinet. When it's accessing the top menu, I can definitely hear a low frequency rumble coming from the cabinet. At first I thought it was my sub :)
I'm with Saurav on this one. It makes absolutely no sense to spend, say, $500 on cables when the rest of your system cost $1500. At that price point, your weakest link is not your cables. It's in the other components. On the other hand, RS cables in a $10,000 system will be the weakest link...
FWIW, I have the PB12, and an Onkyo TX-DS787. While setting the "subwoofer limit" on my Onkyo (using earplugs!) I found that I couldn't make the PB12 distort... not that it couldn't go loud enough, but my house was distorting first!
I've got to wade in on this topic.
First, let me say that this kind of thread is immensely enjoyable- there's very few people on the middle ground, so to speak. You either believe it or you don't.
I quite frankly didn't believe it at all. Then Linda asked me to get another alarm clock. What...
