At least you've got the extended warranty. I've had a Sony XBR and a Panasonic. Both direct-view crt's. Both of them needed a new picture tube once the 2 year warranty ran out. These are 2 electronic companies I have crossed off my list for future purchases.
John, I doubt if you need a Better Cables "Silver Serpent" for sub cable. I was using Monster Cables sub cable and decided to make my own with Belden 1694A cable and Canare RCA connectors. Sounds alot better than Monster's and cheaper too. Any good RG-6 should work though. John Garcia is...
I agree with John. Get one of their Sub-2's. You will need extra cable though. You'll need LFE cable coming from rec. to sub-2's line in connector and then another piece of LFE cable from the Sub-2's out connector to the LFE on the subwoofer. When my old #5300 took a hit they had a special...
I have a small hiss coming from all 7 Def. Tech.'s. I have to put my ear up to them to hear it though. The people at Def. Tech. say this is normal. I don't have any hiss coming from the amps. They also stay cool. They don't make the #1505 anymore. I'm not sure about the #1502. They should have a...
I'm using 2 ATI amps. I have the #1502 2-channel amp driving the fronts and the #1505 - 5 channel amp driving the sides, rears, and center channels. I bought these amps before ATI made 7-channel amps. If I had to do it over again I'd go with the 7 channel and save some shelf space.I forgot to...
This 1st generation player won't do DTS or Progressive scan. I bought mine in '97 when it came out with msrp of $1000. Great player for interlaced only and no Chroma Bug.
Not very cheap either. Sometimes you can get them used at www.fatwyre.com though. I ordered them new, through this site. You can also order custom lengths if you buy new.
I've had my 2000's bi-wired since day one. I don't know if there's any difference or not. The manual said that bi-wiring was the best way to go. I bi-wired the center speaker also. I can't complain about the sound. I used Nordost speaker cables. I think I used the flatline model. Price wasn't...
You could try DVD Disc Doctor. It sells for $30.00 for the manual model and $50.00 for the powered version. I have a Denon 3800 which is known to skip on discs which are not pristine. I used the disc dr. and now my dvd of Blade II won't even load. Not sure if it affects all players this way, but...
You could delete the players that are now unavailable. You could also do testing like "Secrets" does. Your reviews of dvd players sound like someone reading the spec sheet that the mfg. puts out. If you list things things like chroma bug, macroblocking, Y/C error, layer change times, etc. this...
It's been my experience that alot of junk comes out of China. The only thing these corporations understand is the almighty dollar. If something doesn't work, does what it's supposed to do etc. I'm taking it back for a refund. I'm tired of waiting around for firmware fixes, upgrades and for...
You could also try Markertek.com. I bought a 500 foot spool of 1694A for about .27 a foot. The spool was $134.00. They also carry Canare connectors. Discounts on connectors if you buy 25 or more.
The firmware fix was only for the 3800 & 9000 players. There was never a fix for the 2800. If you recently bought this you should return it asap before the video starts to freeze/skip.
I know of a couple but if I told you who they were they would get into trouble with D.T. because they aren't supposed to sell on-line. You will have to search out the dealers until you find one or else buy local.
I have a Salamander Synergy rack with a door. I went to a fabric store and got a yard of vinyl ($7.00). I cut the vinyl to fit the door frame, put Velcro on the corners and I attach it whenever I watch a dvd. Works good, no more led problems. The only problem is that the remote won't work on the...
John, It's only a reality if we all accept it. I try my best to buy American (getting hard). Who do these company's think will be buying their products if we're all outsourced and in the unemployment line?
Stephan, Arcam hasn't gotten very good magazine reviews. They say these players have the chroma bug. I haven't seen one but what I've read says that for the money you could do better.Check out the January issue of Widescreen Review. They have an article (review) of the 27A. This article states...
ED, You keep commenting on the SC I and II. The subject is the Reference which is the superior sub. Parker, Don't forget that the SVS needs it's own amp (extra cost) and the Def. Tech has an 1800 watt amp built in.
Dan Hine, True. Maybe I should say for the price of the D.T. Reference (msrp $1800 w/ an 1800 watt amp) vs. The SVS PB4 (I believe is $2500 w/o an amp), you at least owe it to yourself to audition anything else. It is just Bass after all. I think this kind of money could be better spent on...
Since it's Dec. 26, when can I expect to receive the Jan. issue. I subscribe to 3 or 4 other mags. and I rec'd their Jan. issue around the 10th of Dec. Why does this magazine lag behind the others as far as getting to my mailbox?
Otherwise you do a great job and have a great magazine.
Thanks, Ken
