You get get remote controlled dimmer switches at www.x10.com along with a group of other remoted controlled devices. They have a deal right now with 3 rocker dimmer switches -- http://www.x10.com/products/offer53.htm -- You'll also need an X10 controller
I have bought from them many times in...
Why not go with the drywall, then you can always put paneling up at a later date, covering the drywall (if you were planing on paneling less then 3/8", you would need too put drywall up first anyhow)
I'm in the process of buliding my HT in my basement, and I studded all my exterior block...
Deane,
Thanks for the reply. I kind of thought the HT salesman was a little sleazy, worried more about his profits than the customer.
The light control you mention will not be a problem, as the room I'm doing has no windows, so no outside light. Another reason I like the FP is that I don't...
Having only been working on gutting my basement for the past few weeks, I'm still a long way off on getting a RPTV or front projector. I was really leaning towards a front projector, but then yesterday I stopped into a local Home Theater store. I asked to see some front projectors and he told...
Here is one I have been getting lately.
"You can do whatever you want in the basement, but first you have to finish the kitchen and the bathroom"
I started remodeling my kitchen and bathroom about 2 years ago, and they are both useable, so to me, they are finished :) Who needs all that trim...
Just an update from my original post. I called ATT yesterday, and after about 20 minutes with the rep, I was told that, yes, I can bring in my current box and exchange it for one with s-video (hey, it's a start!) Still no type of digital audio outputs, but I figured I might as well go exchange...
I have to admit, I LOVE looking at your site. Everytime I need to show someone what I want to do in my basement, I direct them to look at your HT (Of course I have it bookmarked)
I'm hoping that I can scrape together the extra $$ and grab me one of those Sony projectors. I initally was going...
I'm in the process of building a HT in my basement, and the room would be about 18' x 14' with only about 7' high ceiling. Would the height and length of this room be ok?
The more I read about projectors, the less I want to get a widescreen RPTV. Can I get a decent LCD projector in the...
I actually have 2 different boxes, one by GI and the other by Motorola, both look identical, and neither one has any type of digital output. I do know that we are due to have fiber installed in my neighborhood by march, and most likely will be getting new boxes (I was told this by the cable guy...
I was wondering that since my Digital cable box doesn't have any digital outputs, am I really getting digital audio?
The box is made by GI, and the only outputs are RCA and the usual coax. There is an S-Video marking on the back, but only a marking, there is a knockout where the S-Video output...
I know there were a couple of those type scenes in T2, but the only one I remember right now is when that semi-truck crashes off the bridge while chasing the kid on the motorbike, and the windshield pops out, but in the next scene, the windshield is magically back in the truck :)
I am just about ready to start fixing my basement and turn a section of it into my Home Theater room, and was planning on using metal studs to frame all of my outside walls. (My house is about 80 years old, and all the block appears to be sandstone, and is real uneven), so I was going to use 1...
I just got "The Go-Go's, Live from Central Park" a couple of weeks ago. If you're a Go-Go's fan, it a great DVD to own, also have Fleetwood Mac, The Dance and Gloria Estefan. Also have a couple of old Laser Disk concerts
I was glad to hear that a 16 x 12 area is good enough. I just started redoing my basement, and the area I have to set up my 'play room' is about 18' x 12'9".
One question though, should I close this room of completely from the rest of the basement? The way I was going to do it is have a big...
I bought my son a Playstation2 for Christmas, and the guy at Best Buy said that you HAVE to buy a memory expansion card in order to play any of the new games. I always thought the memory was just for saving games, so I didn't bother getting the memory, yet.
Will he be able to play any games...
I'm, also in the same boat. My 14 year old son wants a PS2, but I think I'd rather get the X-Box.
I will probably go for the PS2 though, because he knows more about these game machines than I do (and after all, it is for him :)
I agree with the Onkyo 595. I've had mine now for a few months, and love it (but all I really had to compare it to was my previous unit, an old Technics, and there is no comparison :)
For $400, I think it's great
I tried to convince my brother to stay away from Bose, but his wife and mother-in-law listened to that Lifestyle 27 crap, and said how great it sounded. I tried showing him reviews and others comments on Bose, but it was to late, they were sold on that junk. Not sure how much they shelled out...
