Well, assuming you are comfortable with messing with electrical stuff, it is relatively straight forward. Even though from a circuit stand point it is really simple there are a few different ways to run the wires for this so you may have to do a little testing to find out where the main power...
For you BDP-350 owners, EngadgetHD is reporting that Sony has released the promised Profile 2.0 - BD Live firmware update for the BDP-350. Check it out: Sony gifts BDP-S350 with BD-Live via firmware update - Engadget HD
I have the Onkyo 805 and love it. My buddy is a Pioneer Elite dealer though and swears by the Pioneers. I don't know if it matters to you but the Onkyo 805 is THX Ultra2 certified and the Pioneer VSX92TXH is only THX select2. When I bought my Onkyo I had the choice of getting it or the VSX91TXH...
HDMI is a digital interface. It can pass multi-channel digital audio that has been decoded in the player (or pass the raw bitstream). The analog conversion happens in the receiver.
As with all consumer electronics you are probably wasting your money (since there will always be something better just on the horizon). It is a very subjective question. Sad as it makes me, HD-DVD is dead. I'm sure that they will eventually release all of the films on Blu-Ray that were...
Ric, For some reason BD profile 1.1 is called Final Standard profile, even though there is another profile (2.0) after it. Profile 2.0 adds internet connectivity. If your player has Ethernet then it will probably be upgradeable (I don't think it does though).
I bought a $98 A2 back in November and submitted my form the next day. I guess it has been about 9-10 weeks now. Still waiting ... I hope that they still come given the current state of affairs. I am firmly planted in the red camp, at least until I can get a profile 2.0 BD player for $98.
I bought my current house four years ago. It was built new in 1968 with two condutor wire and outlets through out the whole house. The house next to mine is the same way. I don't think there was a federal mandate or anything that said all houses must be grounded. I think the electrical codes are...
The ball joints are an important part of the steering system. If they get bad enough then you start to loose the ability to steer well. This could mean big problems. $500 seems high to me but I never worked on your particular vehicle. I worked doing general maintance for a construction company 5...
David, you are grossly over simplifying a very complex process. The example which you are referring to is a special case. To truly appreciate how complex it is you must have a good background in calculus, trigonometry and physics. I think a lot of the misunderstanding here arises from poor use...
I built this budget subwoofer for a guy. front view back view It was a box I built for a guy on a budget. It has two of the dayton 8" papaer cone woofers (PE# 295-310) and the 120w plate amp (PE# 300-792) back when it was on sale for $79. It as been a while since I built it so I don't...
Just when I think I won't need to build another sub box they start coming out with bigger and better subs.
darn! :D
I built a box for a titanic 1200 for my dad (3 ft^3 sealed). It sounded really good. Now I want to hear what this one will do. I'm curious about the peerless stuff as well...
Mark,
I agree. I don't want or need all of those other features. But, sadly, their aren't more monitors for the same reason there are so many recievers and not so many pre/pro's, not enough demand. I would love to see many more monitors. I hate that the big screens have those speakers in...
I just recieved my latest PE catalog in the mail today. It looks like the have added a few new speaker manufacturers. They also have a new version of the titanic (295-402) that looks pretty cool. I wonder if the old titanic model will go on sale now.
Sean you need to calm down. I'm not a reciever expert by any means. I was simply backing up Jasen's claim about his kenwood reciever. I don't even own a reciever. I use pre/pro and 4 amps. He asked me to see if his reciever was fixable so I took it apart and wasn't very impressed with it...
I certainly cannot speak for all kenwoods. I am a huge fan of kenwood car audio. I'm really skeptical about their HT stuff though. I took a burned down kenwood reciever apart (Jasen Chandler's) and was extremly disappointed by what I found. The amplifier stage was very whimpy (It was...
I think there is a misunderstanding about this software. Living in Utah I've read a few articles in the paper about this product. It is designed to cover up or "mask" content but it is also supposed to be an entertainment thing. The lightsabers in princess bride is a joke. You can turn the...
I'm an EE student myself. So, I'm biased that way. I agree with everything all of the EE's have said because I'm doing it myself. One of my professors is hardcore into speaker design. He earned BS and MS degrees in physics/acoustics then a PhD in EE. That's a lot of school but he REALLY...
I got all of my movies today. I ordered 6 and it came to $82 including shipping. That's 13.6 a piece, not a bad price in my book. I didn't recieve a shipping confirmation from them they just showed up on my door today. I wasn't expecting them for another week from the way they were talking...
This whole "buy the dvd and install new software" thing was a dumb idea. I have a dvd-rom drive and I installed the software, but I couldn't get the trailer to play with out major side effects to my computer. It was extremley frustrating. I finally got to see the trailer though, thanks to...
I've been thinking of buy a Laser Disc player. I don't know very much about them though and would like a little help.
#1 - To listen to dolby digital discs(AC3) will a digital out work if I have a reciever with a digital input(and DD processing of course)or does it specifically have to output...
Just saw the movie and I thought it was great. I was pleased with the ep2 trailer as well. I'm just a huge starwars fan and I'm really excited to see ep2. Monters was a very well done film imo. I really enjoyed the story and found myself laughing in several places throughout. I read Ron's...
I thought I read here on the forum a while back that disabling the bass boost on the 300-792 was different than on the 300-794. It may have been on the PE tech board. I can't remember. I think, though, it was said to disable it on the 300-792 you just cut out a resistor. If they are the same...
