Yeah I remember reading about a formula. But do you think I could find it in all my magazines. I do recall a general rule of thumb that you want the field of view to be no greater than 30 degrees.
Robert,
Have you ever used fiberglass on a vented sub. Ive heard that fibers can be ejected through the port. I was wondering if this is true or not. In that same respect could it cause any problems with a sealed sub, say getting in the voice coil or something.
I have used both methods. The contact cement works by far the best and is actually not that difficult, especially if your doing mini monitors. If you have a router, get a laminate trimming bit. When you apply the veneer, us a large enough piece to over hang the edges, then just trim. You can...
Start at 1lb per cubic foot. Fluff or tease or whatever you call it just dont compact it. You want the fill to take up the complete cavity. Ive never used cotton, I typically use polyester fiberfill.
I plan to build a double wall system. Build your first wall with either type of stud. Fill with fibergalss insulation. Then build a second wall with a 1 inch gap from the first. Be sure that the two walls do not touch. Fill this wall with polystyrene insulation. The two different types of...
Any speaker that i have built has been built with two laminated panels of 3/4" mdf. I cut 2 of each panel and then glue them together with wood glue. Using a drywall knife aids in spreading the glue.
When building and bracing subs, I build the shell and then add bracing roughly in the...
George,
The room is starting to be designed as a dedicated HT. Whether the end result is that i dont know. I havent talked to any pros yet but i plan on it.
I am designing a ht for the basement of our new house. After many years of trying to add components to the back of my rack I have decided that the system must be accessible from the back. I could use a pull out rack but that will add cost. I would like to have the tv set into the wall so that...
I recall reading somewhere that there is a rule of thumb for calculating the proper distance to sit from a tv. There were two numbers, one for 16x9 and one for 4x3. The 16x9 was an easy round number like 1.5 or something. Anyone know what the correct ratio is. I could flip through my old...
Yup, epoxy will hold just about anything. I have also used wood glue, liquid nails, and silicone.
When box stuffing, I keep the stuffing away from the woofer and try to tease it or fluff it to fill the cavity. If you pack it tightly you negate the effects of stuffing.
Check out partsexpress.com I built a 12" Titanic. F3 is about 30 hz with 100 watt amp. I currently have one of their 250 amps on order to power the box. They have complete kits with all the wood already cut, or buy just the components and go at it on your own. They also offer great advice...
