I passed on the BD due to the extras being left off as that's just ridiculous. Why alienate BD customers who've invested in your product? Do they want it to succeed or not? The higher PQ would have been great, but the new DVD looks quite nice so I'm content with that for the time being.
This was merely an okay time killer. The first two films had far more action and thrills. This one, especially in the first half, just kinda layed there not doing much of anything. Although I appreciated they visually tried to do something different, it felt like a mishmash of other apocalyptic...
Granted, I'm not privy to sales data from the studios, but others like Warner and Fox as examples, seem to do well with classic films. From a movie buff and/or TV fan perspective, Paramount is just frustrating. It seems they have lack a lot of imagination when it comes to their product and what...
This is my favorite John Waters film and one of my top wanted remasters. I had a similar experience recently showing the DVD to a few friends. By today's standards, it looks pretty crummy. I suspect it may not be high on HBO's priorities, unless they want to do it and splash "From the creator of...
Until two nights ago, I hadn't seen FB in about fifteen years. Revisting the film was a real treat. While I don't consider it a major classic, I think it holds up remarkably well. It's just good, gross fun. Hats off to the restoration team. I never thought FB would look this good and colorful...
Thanks a lot, Fox. At least that'll be 30 bucks I can spend on something else. This is particularly irritating as this was a title I was looking forward to having being new to the BD world. I did enjoy the theatrical version, but I want the full-blooded version the filmmakers intended to...
I didn't hate it as I expected to, but I also didn't think it was particularly good, either. The first half-hour felt like an unbleeped edition of the Jerry Springer show and was just plain revolting. I'm no hypocrite when it comes to profanity, but I'm not sure why Zombie's dialogue always has...
Me, too! The movie still unnerves the hell out of me, even with the silly police business intertwined with the stalking scenes. I thought maybe MGM had it, but who knows the way these things change hands.
If this PG-13 mess is true, I'll just wait for the DVD. Die Hard films are supposed to be rough and violent, but I guess Fox execs haven't noticed. They have a knack for mishandling their franchises, specifically evidenced by Alien Vs. Predator. Of course, no R rating could have helped that movie.
I'm not sure I understand all the (ahem) venom for this one. Sure, it's fairly flawed and a bit sloppier than the first two but I thought it was a heck of a lot of fun. The editing could have been tightened up and they could have excised a few of the second half's many awkward moments, but this...
A few days ago, I received my Netflix rental of Warner's "Rest Stop," from their new Raw Feed line. As clearly indicated on the website, it was to be the unrated version of the film. Not so when I received the disc. I confirmed it by tracking down the catalog # and taking a look at the volume...
I never could get in, but I was also going to ask about FEARLESS, THE BUTCHER BOY and if they had any influence or control over HBO's SERIAL MOM(needs a new transfer badly). I'm glad someone asked about THE MAN WITH TWO BRAINS, but I can't believe it's not even on their radar as a simple...
At first, I thought the thread title signified a personal event. :) Neat to hear this is finally coming out, so to speak. I've never actually seen it, but I remember it causing a fuss way back when.
This was a very satisfying movie and delivered the goods. I felt so bad for Josh, who seemed like a really nice kid who totally didn't deserve the horrific demise he met.
Depending on my mood, I don't really mind downbeat endings in horror films, but the villians getting their just desserts at...
The disc looks and sounds fantastic. I think the DVD reproduces the look Rob Zombie was going after very well. As far as the unrated cut goes, it's nothing massive, but little bits and pieces added back in here and there. There were more shots of the grisly roadkill aftermath. The sex scene...
I thought AvP was an okay time-killer, but I don't have much enthusiasm for this new version. Anderson's films seem to be mostly noise and chaos and not much substance. That being said, these "unrated" versions are getting a bit ridiculous:
My eyes have finally witnessed Paul Schrader’s once-elusive prequel formerly known as Exorcist: The Beginning. For those of us familiar with the Exorcist series, a retread of this film’s troubled history isn’t necessary. Until now, we’ve only had Renny Harlin’s admittedly entertaining, but...
I've heard this too but I recall an interview with Sigourney Weaver way back when Aliens came out. She hates/fears guns as well but you sure can't tell watching that movie! We all have to remember these people are, after all, actors. I don't have any fear of Bond being gun shy.
Do you mean this one? Personally, I get a good vibe from him as Bond. As far as his looks go, I think some of the pictures of him that have been used online haven't been the best choices. As for these polls, of course they are going to be low for Craig simply because Americans don't know...
Some shades of the old Artisan M.O., it appears. Normally, I wouldn't mind supporting a title to encourage a better release down the road, but a quicky, fullscreen, throwaway treatment--nope, not going to do it.
Lion's Gate is sitting on a number of other horror titles that should rate, at the...
I watched it a few months back and just felt a big "been there, done that" sensation the whole time(not in the personal sense, thankfully, just cinematically!). While the murders were admittedly disturbing, I thought the killer was pretty boring. I get tired of movies where they just talk...
Sorry if someone's already said it, but if Universal says it has over four hours of material, including a (2 hr)commentary, I'm guessing the doc is likely pared down to 2 hours or less. I'm not too thrilled about a DVD-18, either, but I am elated about actually getting the movie in its...
I enjoyed this movie when I saw it a few years ago. This is very disappointing about the PQ. I expected much better from Anchor Bay. I think I'll pass on this one.
As I predicted, I had to generally look all over Charlotte to find the discs. I finally scored them at Media Play after coming up empty at BBuy, CC, WM, etc. Ridiculous! What is it with finding catalog titles these days??? As far as the discs themselves, I'm generally pleased. It's hardly to...
