I have B&W CDM 9NT speakers with a MC-12 powered by Bryston 4B ST amps and a 6B ST amp. I'm well satisfied with my set up. I think you woudl be happy with the Bryston amps. Best regards-Henry
I've had the B&W CDM 9NT speakers for a couple of years now and am well satisfied with them. I use a pair of Titian LE II with them for bass and cross over at 50 hz. I power them with Brystn amps. Whatever brightness I may have sensed initially is long since gone. I auditioned Nautilus 802...
The Bryston 6B ST is an excellent three channel amp. I own one and I'm very happy with it both for music and home theater. The cost was reasonable and it provided a big boost to my system.
Best regards-Henry
No, I definitely think the CDM 9 NT is worth the money. I was just surprised how well the Infinity IL40 stacked up against them in a direct comparison. The IL40 is a really good speaker.

The improvement in sound quality, although there, is not substancial. The difference in price is substancial. I spent a lot of money, got some improvement, but certainly not the bang for the buck one might expect. Does this help?
Best regards-Henry
My experience with Infinity speakers has always been very good. Sound is excellent. Stepping up from Infinity IL40 to B & W CDM 9 NT is 2.6 times the price but a 50% improvement in sound quality.

In response to David Barteaux's request for other center speakers: Dunleavy has just introduced a $3800 center speaker that is supposedly better than the HTM-1.

Try the Bryston 6B ST. It is an excellant 3 channel amp. I use one for the center and main speakers. I have a pair of Bryston 4B ST amps for the surround and back channels. These are all rated at 300+ watts and the system works like a charm.
I am not so sure 3 channel amps are a thing of the...
After reading this thread I decided to stop by the Bose store in the mall near where I live and do the sound demonstration. We went through the whole thing and the Bose rep made it clear the sound was generated by the silver device sitting on the table which was not hooked up to anything. After...
When I play this DVD, there is no DTS except on the 7 Bridges Rd track. All the other tracks are uncompressed PCM stereo. I've read the label numerous times and this is clearly stated on the label. My equipment agrees that this is correct. I guess there must be different versions of this DVD...
My budget is unlimited but I would really feel awkward spending more than $10,000. I primarily watch DVDs and sometimes watch sports, award shows, and special events. I need two composite inputs and at least one component input. I do not need any sound capability as I have a seperate audio...
If you split the 5803 into a pre pro and an amp, the cost of each would more closely approximate the cost of the 5803 rather than half. Taking out the amps and associated parts reduces some costs, but other costs such as engineering, design, development, marketing, shipping, and administration...
You can't do any better than the MC-12. It is the best in the market.
I have one and wouldn't hestate to recommend it as long as price is not a consideration. It does it all and does it well.
Best regards-Henry
It isn't perfect but it is almost there. Felix knows his stuff. I think Felix was right when he said to eliminate the general areas. The general areas will continue to grow and be too large unless they are eliminated and posters are forced to use the divisions. There also needs to be a...
My third choice was Velodyne. Here are the comments regarding Velodyne:
1-very expensive without offering significantly better sound than SVS and Titan subs
2-too many models to consider and test to find the right size
3-highly recommended by users and reviewers alike (considered the best...
Here are the positive and negative points which made SVS my second chice when I bought subs-
1-difficulty in getting decision from SVS to ship via Federal Express
2-unattractive appearance and large size
3-unavailibilty of built in amp until a later date on the new, improved models
4-prompt...

You don't have a problem. Any sound you hear can be localized. Sone are easier to localize than others. Room dynamics can make it very easy to identify sound sources. A lot of people use two subs or more for the very reason you have mentioned.
Best regards-Henry
If you take the two subwoofers out of phase with each other, you hear or feel each one individually. If you take both subwoofers out of phase with the other speakers, you hear or feel the subwoofer sound seperatetely and more distinctly from the other sounds.
